Marvel’s ‘VisionQuest’ Reveals First Look At Ultron’s New Robot And Human Forms

Marvel Television has quietly built one of its most intriguing corners of the MCU through Disney+, weaving together WandaVision and Agatha All Along into a trilogy that keeps circling back to the same haunted question: what happens to an AI after everything it loved is gone.

That trilogy is finally reaching its conclusion, and the show closing it out has stayed remarkably tight-lipped about its plans so far. Kevin Feige himself only briefly acknowledged the project during Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, confirming the weekend’s focus would stay on films rather than television, which left fans hungry for literally any new details.

That hunger just got fed in the most unexpected way possible. New official merchandise for ‘VisionQuest’ has revealed the first proper look at both Paul Bettany’s Vision and James Spader’s Ultron, courtesy of a pair of newly unveiled Funko Pop figures rather than any traditional marketing push.

The Vision figure largely matches expectations, closely resembling his appearance from ‘WandaVision’, though his human half is shown holding a newspaper titled “Vision Today,” hinting at some kind of stylized inner-world storyline playing out inside his own mind. It’s a detail that lines up with previous reporting suggesting Vision spends much of the series navigating his own memories and consciousness.

Ultron’s figure, however, is where things get genuinely surprising. His robotic form looks nearly identical to his final design from ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, but his human counterpart shows James Spader sporting glasses, a beard, and a distinctly different personal style, marking the character’s first-ever human appearance using Spader’s actual likeness rather than his voice alone.

That change represents a significant overhaul for one of the MCU’s most infamous villains. Spader previously only voiced Ultron as a CGI robot, and reports indicate the character will now function less like the drone-commanding warlord from 2015 and more like a psychological threat existing directly inside Vision’s mind, giving the show room to explore his cruelty and intelligence through a far more intimate lens.

Bettany himself has previously teased what audiences can expect from that dynamic, describing Vision’s mind as more cluttered than expected. According to Bettany, Vision has spent time saving and copying various AI personalities to keep them alive inside his consciousness, with Ultron specifically kept behind an especially heavy firewall due to what Bettany described as his dangerously unstable nature.

Reaction to Ultron’s redesigned human form has already proven divisive among fans. Some have embraced the change enthusiastically, with one social media user calling it the primary reason they’re excited to watch the series, while others have pushed back, expressing skepticism about seeing the character represented through Spader’s own face rather than his classic robotic form.

‘VisionQuest’ also expands its cast well beyond Vision and Ultron, bringing several of Tony Stark’s AI systems to life as fully realized human characters. Emily Hampshire is set to play E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady will portray F.R.I.D.A.Y., and James D’Arcy returns as J.A.R.V.I.S., while T’Nia Miller makes her MCU debut as Jocasta following the character’s brief tease years ago in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.

With Marvel expected to unveil the show’s first full trailer during its D23 presentation in mid-August, this merchandise-driven reveal may only be the beginning of a much bigger rollout. For now, fans are left piecing together what Ultron’s unsettling new form actually means for the story ahead.
