Matthew Lillard Slams ICE at ‘Scream’ Screening, Urges Fans to ‘Lead With Love
During a surprise appearance at Cinespia’s Halloween screening of Scream, actor Matthew Lillard spoke out against ICE and encouraged the audience to vote and focus on love.
Addressing the crowd at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Lillard said, “F*** ICE. In this time, in this city, we need to lead with love. Do not forget that s*** in this moment — not to be political, but to be political as s***.” His words drew loud cheers from fans in attendance.

Lillard also urged the crowd to support California’s Proposition 50, a ballot measure aimed at redrawing congressional districts to remove five extra GOP seats from Texas. “You have to vote. If you don’t vote, we are going down, so it’s on us. And if you don’t like that, I’m so not sorry,” he said.
The actor is best known for playing Stu Macher in the 1996 original Scream, the horror classic that started a long-running franchise.
Stu, alongside Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich), was part of the killer duo at the heart of the film. The movie also starred Drew Barrymore, Neve Campbell, Rose McGowan, Courteney Cox, Jamie Kennedy, and David Arquette.
Lillard is set to return for Scream 7, which will be released by Spyglass/Paramount on February 27. How his character will appear in the new film is still unclear, as Stu appeared to die in the first movie after Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) dropped a TV on his head , not to mention the fake stab wounds he and Billy used to make it seem like they were Ghostface’s victims.
