Mckenna Grace Steps Out in Sequins for the ‘Digger’ Premiere
Mckenna Grace has spent years growing up in public. She was acting by her early years and became a familiar face through roles in ‘Gifted’ and ‘Designated Survivor’, and at 20 she has turned into a regular on the red carpet. Each new premiere invites the same question about what she will wear.
Her recent premiere looks have gotten attention. At the ‘Scream 7’ premiere in February, she wore a dress with a large silk bow and an asymmetrical hemline. Fans flooded her Instagram with comments saying she looked all grown up.
The latest chance came on September 28, when Tom Cruise’s new film ‘Digger‘ held its Los Angeles premiere at the Directors Village theater. Cruise was joined on the carpet by John Goodman, Emma D’Arcy, Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller and director Alejandro González Iñárritu. Jessica Alba and Kirsten Dunst were also among the stars turning heads.

On September 29, Grace shared photos on Instagram. The images show her with long, golden blonde waves and full bangs, wearing a black sequined mini dress with short sleeves and a tulle hem, plus small gold earrings. In the second photo, she leans forward with a hand on her hip in a playful pose.
Grace is not among the names in the cast lists published so far, which include Cruise, Ahmed, Goodman, Hüller, Stuhlbarg and Plemons, along with Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke and Burn Gorman. The sources I found did not explain her connection to the film. What is clear is that the premiere gave her another high-profile stage.
The film she came to celebrate is a big swing. ‘Digger’ follows Tom Cruise as Digger Rockwell, an oil tycoon on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he has unleashed destroys everything. It is a black comedy from Iñárritu that arrives in theaters on October 2, after a London premiere on September 22.
The reception has been mixed. The film holds a 50% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 50 reviews at the time of one report, and the Roger Ebert review describes it as a languid, self-satisfied film that doesn’t work. Even so, the star power on the carpet did not seem to dim the excitement of the night.
Grace has been busy off the carpet too. Last October, she attended the LA premiere of ‘Regretting You’ at Paramount Studios with her co-star Mason Thames, and the pair are also a real-life couple. She has also built a music career, releasing her debut single ‘Haunted House’ in 2021 as part of the ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ soundtrack.
For now, the black sequin dress is the look people are talking about. It suggests a star who is comfortable trying something more glamorous each time she steps onto the carpet.
