MCU’s ‘VisionQuest’ Cast Revealed: Marvel Brings Back 3 MCU Stars and Adds 11 New Faces
Marvel is getting ready to wrap up one of its most connected TV storylines with the upcoming Disney+ series VisionQuest, which arrives on October 14. The show is expected to serve as the final chapter in a loose trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along.
According to Disney Upfronts footage and reporting from TheWrap, the story will follow Vision as he regains his memories but struggles with a strange disconnect, remembering his past without actually feeling like he lived it. That emotional gap pushes him into a search for identity and humanity.
The series is also timed closely with the wider MCU storyline, ending just before Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters. While Marvel has kept most plot details quiet, casting information has started to reveal how large the project will be.
Paul Bettany returns as Vision, continuing his long-running role in the MCU. He was last seen in WandaVision before departing at the end of the series. Speaking about VisionQuest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Bettany said, “It manages to feel very much like it’s somehow a part of that world, an end to a trilogy of sorts, whilst also being very much its own thing, and it is just really good. I’m really proud of it.”
James Spader is also confirmed to return, stepping back into his role as Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ultron was previously destroyed by the Avengers, making his return one of the most notable developments in the series.
Faran Tahir is another returning MCU actor, reprising his role as Raza from Iron Man (2008). Raza was the leader of the Ten Rings faction introduced in Tony Stark’s original story.
A number of new actors are also joining the MCU through VisionQuest. Emily Hampshire joins the cast as E.D.I.T.H., the Stark-created AI system originally introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home and left behind by Tony Stark to Peter Parker. The system controls satellite networks and advanced weapons systems.
T’Nia Miller joins in a major role as Jocasta, described as a powerful and intelligent character driven by revenge. In Marvel Comics, Jocasta is a robot created by Ultron who eventually turns against him.
Ruaridh Mollica joins as Thomas Shepherd, a character strongly linked to Vision’s family storyline. Many fans believe he could be connected to Tommy Maximoff, one of the twin sons of Vision and Wanda. His character arc may also connect to Billy Maximoff, also known as Wiccan, who was introduced in Agatha All Along. The casting also ties into the ongoing Maximoff family storyline across the MCU.
Todd Stashwick joins the cast as an assassin hunting androids and advanced technology. His character is expected to play a direct role in the conflict surrounding Vision’s existence and the larger artificial intelligence storyline.
Jonathan Sayer and Henry Lewis also join the series in more unusual roles. Sayer plays a character named U, while Lewis plays DUM-E, the small robotic assistant originally seen in Tony Stark’s workshop. Lewis shared the announcement on Instagram, writing, “So thrilled to share the news that @jonathan_sayer1 and I are playing DUM-E and U in the upcoming @marvel TV series #visionquest – we’ve both had such an incredible experience working on the show and can’t wait for you to see it!”
Orla Brady joins as F.R.I.D.A.Y., another Stark-created AI system. The character previously appeared in multiple MCU films as Tony Stark’s assistant, originally voiced by Kerry Condon.
Diane Morgan joins the cast in a supporting role as an associate of Paladin, according to Variety. Her role adds another layer to the expanding network of human characters tied to the story’s technological conflict.
Lauren Morais joins as Lisa Molinari, a character closely linked to Thomas Shepherd. Morais has previously appeared in Mudtown, The Red King, and The Crow Girl, but VisionQuest marks her biggest role so far.
Mary McDonnell has also joined the cast in an undisclosed role, with Marvel keeping her character details secret.
Cristian Lavin joins the series as a character known as Merc. His role has not been fully revealed, but he is expected to be part of the show’s darker storyline involving androids and assassination plots.
There are also several rumored returns tied to major MCU characters. Tom Hiddleston is reportedly expected to reprise his role as Loki, though Marvel has not confirmed his involvement. Elizabeth Olsen is also rumored to return as Wanda Maximoff, following her last appearance in WandaVision. Her potential return would directly connect Vision’s story back to the emotional core of the original series.
With returning MCU characters, major AI figures, and new additions tied to the Maximoff storyline, VisionQuest is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most crowded and important Disney+ projects yet.
