A new featurette for Supergirl has been released, featuring stars Milly Alcock and Eve Ridley speaking about the importance of watching films on the big screen.

In the featurette, both actors highlight the idea that cinema is meant to be experienced in theaters. Alcock and Ridley emphasize the shared experience between audiences, filmmakers, and everyone involved in bringing a movie to life. One of the lines featured in the promotional material states, “Your local screen was built for heroes. For the heroes on-screen taking you out of this world. For the heroes behind the scenes whose craft and artistry make it all happen. And for the heroes in the seats who are ready for adventure to take flight.”

The message continues to encourage audiences to see the film in cinemas first, describing it as an epic adventure that is designed for the biggest screen possible. The promotional push is part of the wider marketing for Supergirl, which is scheduled to release in theaters on June 26, 2026, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The film is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira. It is the second film in the new DC Universe under DC Studios leadership from James Gunn and Peter Safran. Milly Alcock leads the film as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, alongside Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa.

According to official plot details from DC Studios, the story follows Kara Zor-El on a journey across the galaxy on her 23rd birthday. She travels with her dog Krypto and meets a young girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll. Their encounter pulls Supergirl into a violent path of revenge after a tragedy involving Ruthye’s father.

The film is based on the comic storyline Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which helped shape the tone and direction of the adaptation. The story presents Supergirl in a different light compared to earlier versions of the character, focusing on a more hardened and emotionally complex version of Kara.

Production on the film took place in the United Kingdom, including Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and locations in London and Scotland. Filming ran from January to May 2025. The project was officially announced in 2023 as part of a broader reset of DC’s film universe under new creative leadership.

The cast also includes David Corenswet as Superman, Kara’s cousin, and Jason Momoa as Lobo, a space mercenary and bounty hunter. Their inclusion connects the film to the larger DC Universe storyline being built across multiple upcoming projects.

With its focus on large-scale space adventure, emotional storytelling, and a theatrical-first message, Supergirl is being positioned as one of the key entries in DC Studios’ new “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” slate
