‘MobLand’ Season 2 Episode 7 Recap & Ending Explained: Harry’s Midnight Gamble and a Deadly Phone Call to Frankie’s Son
By now, ‘MobLand‘ has made a habit of pushing Harry Da Souza into impossible corners and watching him talk, or shoot, his way out. The latest episode, “Ace of Spades,” finds the Harrigans in full retreat mode, burying what they have lost and plotting a counterattack. It also hands Tom Hardy’s fixer his most dangerous night in a while.
The family opens the hour in mourning. Conrad buries his dogs, and Maeve grieves her horses. That anger sends them back from the Cotswolds toward London to find out which associates are still loyal.
Harry and Kevin take one side of the operation, and Conrad and Paul take the other. It sounds like a simple plan, and then Paul disappears. That sets up the ‘MobLand’ ending explained below, with a trap, a killing and a late-night phone call.
Frankie Cooper hires Sicily, a dancer Paul used to see, and questions her about him. She calls Paul and asks him to meet at the club. Conrad ditches Paul in the middle of their rounds, which hands Frankie his opening.
At a wrecking yard, Frankie tortures Paul and forces him to call Harry with a cover story. The pitch is that Sicily’s flatmate, Wendy, is sleeping with Frankie, and that £60k would buy her help in catching him. The meeting is set for midnight at the Riviera Palm Casino.
Paul gives the game away by ending the call with “bro.” Harry tells Kevin that Paul is only allowed to use that word when he is in serious trouble.
Harry and Kevin agree that Paul is bait. They also know that if Frankie keeps Paul, he will extract everything he knows about the Harrigans. Harry goes in alone.
At the casino, Frankie offers him a place in his crew, and Harry turns him down with a quip about already being in a band. Sicily apologizes to Paul, and Frankie kills her at the table. Frankie also suspects that Harry is hiding something he got from Jojo, and Harry answers with a single place name: Newgate Prison.
Newgate is where Frankie’s son, Michael, is serving time for possession with intent to supply. Frankie dismisses him as a lazy burden and suggests he might be glad to be rid of him. Harry doesn’t buy it, and as a father himself, he says so.
The standoff turns into a game of chance, and Harry comes out ahead. Frankie lets him and Paul walk. Paul admits afterward that he has wet himself, which is a fair review of Harry’s plan.

Outside the casino, Harry tells a shaken Paul that he has a busy night ahead. Then he phones Michael in prison and warns him that he will be attacked at 3 a.m. The episode cuts to black before anyone learns what happens.
The call can be read two ways. Harry might be warning Michael about someone else’s hit, or he might be the one making the threat. He never says who ordered it. Either way, the effect is the same: Frankie has to spend the night protecting his son instead of coming after the Harrigans.

Harry finds Donnie’s address in Conrad’s notebook and goes alone. Donnie, who was working for Frankie behind Jan’s back, was killed by her in the previous episode. Harry finds the body and the gun Jan left behind, takes both along with Donnie’s phone and keys, and calls Zosia to clean up. Nobody can reach Jan.
Meanwhile, Seraphina tells Charlton to forget Conrad and invest €10 million in her instead. Bella urges her to back “Harrigan 2.0,” and Seraphina reveals that she has already started. It is a quiet power play in an episode full of loud ones.
Maeve, as usual, works inside the family. She tells Gina she is Harry’s only weakness and pushes her to stage a crisis, which would strain the bond Harry has only just repaired with his daughter. She also reads Eddie’s searches for ways to escape, questions whether he really killed Tommy Stevenson, and warns him that leaving the family means dying. Elsewhere, Kat gives Frankie a short leash after he cut out Colin.
The season runs for 10 episodes and ends on November 20, and the show has already been renewed for another season. With three episodes of the war still to come, the question is whether Harry’s call to Michael really changes the balance of power. Frankie has shown he will kill in front of an audience, but Harry has shown he can find the one thing that makes him hesitate.
The Harrigans are also further from safe than they look. Jan is unaccounted for, Gina is being pushed toward a dangerous move, and Maeve is closing in on Eddie. Harry may have won the night, but his family is giving him plenty of reasons to lose the week.
: Do you think Harry will go through with his threat against Michael?
