Marvel has spent years assembling a roster so massive for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ that even longtime fans have struggled to keep track of every confirmed character and their place in the story. Amid all that scale, certain pairings have managed to stand out simply because of how much comic book history they carry into their first-ever live-action meeting.

Huerta went further in a separate conversation, describing the dynamic in more emotional terms. He explained that something happens both in the script and in real life, describing an energy between a powerful woman and a determined Namor, suggesting the chemistry between the characters carries real weight rather than existing as a passing reference to their comic book history.

That kind of description lines up with earlier comments Huerta has made about filming alongside Kirby, whom he has previously described as a great and spectacular coworker on set. He has also spoken about the challenge of understanding Namor’s reaction to meeting someone like Sue Storm, explaining that in real life, encountering that kind of powerful presence leaves an impression, and that the same holds true for how his character responds to her in the film.

According to Huerta, that initial spark eventually gives way to necessity, with the two characters needing to set aside their tension in order to face a much larger threat together. He has indicated that Namor will be forced into a difficult decision once that dynamic plays out, one that complicates his already fraught position within the story’s larger conflict.

In the comics, Namor’s history with Sue Storm dates back decades, marked by unrequited longing on his part and occasional temptation on hers, all while she remains committed to her husband Reed Richards. That tension has become one of Marvel’s most enduring love triangles, and its inclusion here would mark the first time the dynamic has ever been explored in live action.

Huerta has previously cautioned that his role in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will be smaller than his solo turn in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ describing his part as simpler given the sheer size of the ensemble cast. Even so, his comments suggest that whatever screen time Namor does get will carry real narrative weight, particularly where Sue Storm is concerned.

With Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards also confirmed to appear alongside Namor and Sue at some point in the story, the door remains open for even more complicated dynamics once all three characters share the screen.
