Netflix has cancelled its adult animated comedy Strip Law after just one season. The news was confirmed directly by Crawford in a post on Bluesky, where he spoke openly about the show’s end and thanked both the team and the viewers who supported it.

Strip Law was a Vegas-set animated courtroom comedy built around a fast, chaotic style of humor. It was created by Crawford and developed as a high-energy take on the legal procedural genre, mixing absurd cases with rapid-fire jokes. Early promotional material included a trailer and first-look images released by Netflix, which also introduced the main voice cast. The cast featured Joel McHale and Ikechukwu Ufomadu among others.

Despite its creative approach, the series struggled to reach a wide audience on the platform. It did not appear in Netflix’s daily or weekly top 10 charts, and its trailer gathered just over 100,000 views. Some early reviews noted that the show had a clear creative direction but also pointed out uneven comedy. One review described it as a “wild Vegas animated courtroom comedy” that struggled to avoid “bad jokes,” reflecting its mixed reception.

Crawford addressed the cancellation directly in his Bluesky post. He wrote, “so they told me theres not going to be anymore strip law at Netflix i really cant be anything but grateful. at every phase it was made by talented people in pursuit of nothing but pure chaotic delirious joy and im so so proud of it thank you to everyone who gave it chance.”

Even though the series will not continue, Crawford also shared one final detail about where the story was heading. He revealed a key plot point that would have been part of the planned conclusion. He wrote, “I thought it was funny also theres a whole lot of shit we were gonna do but ill give yall one little huge secret since bluesky has been auch a fuckin champion for this show eventually in the series finale you’d’ve learned that this guy from the credits…turns out to be Lincoln the cards are from Sheila in the pilot.”

The cancellation of Strip Law adds to a growing list of adult animated series that have ended after a single season on Netflix.

Over the past few years, several similar shows have failed to secure long-term renewals, including titles like Q-Force, Farzar, Agent Elvis, Chicago Party Aunt, Mulligan, and Twilight of the Gods. Many of these series also struggled to build large audiences despite strong creative teams behind them.

Industry observers often point out that Netflix’s animation slate is highly competitive, with many new shows released each year competing for attention. In that environment, even shows with distinct styles and dedicated creative visions can struggle to survive beyond their first season.

For Strip Law, the end came quickly, but its creator emphasized that the project was made with enthusiasm and creative freedom. While the series will not continue, Crawford’s comments suggest that the team valued the experience and the audience that did connect with the show during its short run.
