Netflix is reportedly moving quickly to create a live-action version of Demon Slayer after the huge success of the anime film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle.

Entertainment insider Daniel Richtman said that the streaming platform wants to take advantage of the film’s record-breaking momentum. “Netflix is aggressively fast-tracking a live-action adaptation of Demon Slayer to harness the blazing momentum sparked by Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba–Infinity Castle,” Richtman shared.

Infinity Castle, released in Japan on July 18, is the latest feature-length film based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga series. It follows the anime’s fourth season and previous films, including Mugen Train and the compilation movies To the Swordsmith Village and To the Hashira Training. Unlike the compilations, Infinity Castle is a full adaptation of one of the manga’s most dramatic story arcs, with plans for a trilogy.

The film has been a massive hit around the world. It earned $556 million at the global box office, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese film ever and one of the biggest films of 2025.

Critics praised its exciting action, stunning visuals, and strong story, although some noted minor pacing issues. Despite its success, the film currently has no streaming deal with Netflix.

Netflix’s push for a live-action version shows how valuable the Demon Slayer franchise has become. The company aims to attract both longtime anime fans and new viewers who may not have experienced the original story.

With competition among streaming services growing, this move signals that Netflix wants to secure a major hit that can draw subscribers and keep the franchise prominent.
