Netflix’s New Dan Brown Thriller ‘The Secret of Secrets’ Is Closing In on Its Lead Stars
Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Dan Brown’s ‘The Secret of Secrets’ is moving closer to finding its new Robert Langdon. ‘The Secret of Secrets’ is the latest Robert Langdon mystery by Dan Brown.
The story follows Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon as he searches for his missing partner, scientist Katherine Solomon, while uncovering a dangerous secret hidden within her groundbreaking research.
The novel mixes history, science, puzzles, and conspiracy as Langdon races against powerful forces that want to control a discovery that could change how humanity understands the human mind.
According to Deadline, ‘The Gilded Age’ star Morgan Spector is in talks to lead the series as the famous Harvard symbologist, taking over a role previously made popular by Tom Hanks in the film adaptations.
Rebecca Hall is also reportedly in negotiations to play the female lead opposite Spector. The actress would portray Katherine Solomon, a scientist whose disappearance sends Langdon into a dangerous mystery involving secrets that could change humanity’s understanding of the mind.
The new series will mark a major change for the Robert Langdon franchise, which has previously been connected mostly to Hanks. The actor played Langdon in three feature films: ‘The Da Vinci Code,’ ‘Angels & Demons,’ and ‘Inferno,’ all directed by Ron Howard. Together, the movies earned more than $2 billion worldwide, making Langdon one of the most recognizable mystery characters in modern entertainment.
The Netflix series will be based on Brown’s latest novel, ‘The Secret of Secrets,’ which continues the story of Langdon. In the book, Langdon finds himself caught in a race against time after his girlfriend, Katherine Solomon, goes missing. Her groundbreaking research manuscript becomes the center of a dangerous mystery involving powerful forces.
If the deals are completed, the series would also bring real-life couple Morgan Spector and Rebecca Hall together on screen for the first time in a television project. The two actors have previously worked together on stage and in films, including the Broadway revival of ‘Machinal’ and the movies ‘Christine’ and ‘Permission.’
Spector’s potential casting does not mean he would leave his role on HBO’s ‘The Gilded Age.’ According to reports, the actor would be able to continue playing railroad businessman George Russell if the show receives another season, with production schedules planned around both projects.
What do you think about Morgan Spector potentially replacing Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon?
The Netflix adaptation comes from Dan Brown and Carlton Cuse, who are developing the series together. Cuse will serve as writer and showrunner, while Emma Forman from Cuse’s Genre Arts will also executive produce. Netflix ordered the project straight to series in 2025.
Production is expected to begin this fall in Prague, where much of the story takes place.
This is not the first time Netflix has been involved with Spector, as the actor recently appeared in the streamer’s limited series ‘Black Rabbit.’ Hall is also coming off a role in Ryan Murphy’s FX series ‘The Beauty.’
With Spector potentially stepping into one of Dan Brown’s most famous roles, Netflix appears ready to give Robert Langdon a new chapter on television. The series will need to win over fans who are familiar with Hanks’ version, but the new adaptation could offer a fresh take on the character and his world of hidden clues, history, and mystery.
