New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Image Brings Reed Richards, Thor and Yelena Together for a Fresh Look

Marvel’s marketing machine for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has settled into a steady rhythm. Every few days, a new piece of promotional art, a toy display or a poster surfaces online, and each one pairs a different group of heroes in a way that keeps fans guessing about how the film will fit them together.

The campaign has produced some intriguing combinations. Earlier promo art placed Doctor Doom alongside Thor, Captain America and Mister Fantastic, while other batches teased unexpected duos like Ant-Man and Invisible Woman, Shang-Chi and Cyclops, and Gambit and Yelena Belova.

The latest drop adds another trio to the list. A new image shared on October 6 by MCU – The Direct offers a fresh look at Reed Richards, Thor and Yelena Belova, with the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ logo and the “In Theaters December 18” tagline across the top.

Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards stands in front, dressed in a white and light blue jacket with the Fantastic Four “4” emblem visible on his chest. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor stands behind him with short hair and a dark battle suit, a look that has now appeared in several promotional pieces. Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova completes the trio in a dark green suit with blue eye makeup, her blonde hair swept back.

The three are posed against a dark green backdrop, which gives the artwork a moody tone that fits the film’s villain. It is a simple composition, but it makes a point: the movie is putting the Fantastic Four, Avengers and the next generation of heroes on equal footing.

Marvel has leaned heavily on these combinations. Black Panther and Yelena have been consistent fixtures throughout the marketing, with one recent promo spotlighting Doom alongside Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Letitia Wright’s Black Panther and Pugh’s Yelena, a grouping that has appeared multiple times. Hasbro has also unveiled a line of ‘Doomsday’ figures, including Thor, The Thing, Cyclops, Doctor Doom, a Sentinel, Beast, Captain America and The Human Torch.

Other recent pieces of art have emphasized the film’s scale. A new poster from the weekend showed Doctor Doom with three Latverian witches, whose identities have not yet been revealed, and international materials have spotlighted the X-Men logo. Taken together, the promotional push suggests Marvel wants audiences to see ‘Doomsday’ as the largest assembly in its history.

Each of the three characters has had a different path to the film. Thor was spotlighted in the second teaser trailer, which debuted in late December, following a first trailer that revealed Chris Evans’ return as Steve Rogers. Reed Richards and the Fantastic Four have featured prominently in the early trailers, and a post-credit scene featuring Doctor Doom and Franklin Richards has already given fans something to dissect.

Yelena, meanwhile, represents the new generation that has stepped into the MCU. Pugh’s character has appeared across much of the film’s marketing, which suggests she will have a significant role. The film’s team-up also includes the Wakandans, the New Avengers and the X-Men, all facing Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

The Russo brothers, who are directing ‘Doomsday,’ have said that not every cast member has been announced, and the post-credit scene in ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ showed Doom taking Bruce Banner, which has fans wondering who else could appear. Filming took place from April to September 2025, and a follow-up, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ is scheduled for December 17, 2027.

Audience interest appears to be strong. Global Box Office reported this week that the film has crossed $100 million in worldwide presales, following earlier reports that it had passed $55 million domestically. With the release date now just over 2 months away, expect plenty more promotional art before opening day.
