One of the most exciting upcoming MCU projects is ‘Thunderbolts*.’ Production was slated to kick off in Summer 2023, and the cast was expected to include actors already associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Marvel Studios making efforts to ensure their availability.

Then, the SAG-AFTRA strike happened and paralyzed the industry for more than 3 months and stalled the progress of the movie. Little is known about the overall plot, except that it will see a group of antiheroes as they go on various missions for the government.

Now, that ‘Thunderbolts*’ has begun shooting officially plenty of set photos are “leaking” into the public, and in the last batch of photographs we can see Florence Pugh’s new costume, Geraldine Viswanathan and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Fans once again pointed out the absence of Sebastian Stan’s Bucky, while industry insiders explained that Stan is absent from the set because his scenes aren’t being shot yet. Last week, Florence shared a video on private Instagram walking the fans through the set, allegedly the crew was filming a scene in the vault where Sentry was about to be discovered.

Scoopers pointed out that Bucky won’t be part of the team at the start of the movie, he is bound to join it later.

‘Thunderbolts*’ didn’t have easy development so far, being marked by the SAG-AFTRA strike, and then months before the movie was supposed to shoot Steven Yeun gave up on his role of Sentry, forcing the studio to recast him with Lewis Pullman being the top choice to replace him with the rumors soon confirmed by the studio.

Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz are set to reprise their roles as Bill Foster and Melina Vostokoff in the MCU. Geraldine Viswanathan joined the cast as de Fontaine’s assistant after a schedule delay led to the departure of another actor. The film’s release date was moved to May 2, 2025, swapping with The Fantastic Four. Joanna Calo was tasked with rewriting the script, with earlier drafts focusing on the team’s mission, potentially resulting in their deaths.
