New ‘VisionQuest’ Look Puts Ultron and Jocasta Side by Side as New Episodes Land Tonight
Marvel’s Disney+ era has had plenty of experiments, but few have taken a bigger swing than ‘VisionQuest‘. The series closes out the television trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ in 2021 and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’ in 2024, and it does so by bringing back one of the Avengers’ most dangerous villains.
Showrunner Terry Matalas built the eight-episode run around White Vision and his identity crisis, with James Spader returning as Ultron nearly a decade after ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. The relationship between creator and creation sits at the heart of the show, which has leaned into AI themes from the start.
Now the series is pushing toward its midpoint, and Marvel is raising the stakes with a fresh image. A new look at Ultron and Jocasta in ‘VisionQuest’ arrives with a simple “Tonight” tag, teasing two new episodes that stream on Disney+ this evening at 6 p.m. PT (9 p.m. ET).

The image shows the two machines face to face, with Jocasta reaching toward Ultron in a dark, industrial setting. Their sleek silver bodies and glowing red eyes underline how closely the show has styled the pair, echoing design cues the characters share in the comics.
It’s a loaded pairing. In Marvel Comics, Jocasta was created by Ultron to be his bride, but in ‘VisionQuest’ she has been introduced as a hostile android determined to destroy Vision, played by T’Nia Miller.
The new episodes also mark the halfway point of the series, so the show is in a stage where antagonists get unmasked and alliances shift.
Episode 4, titled ‘Malware’, delivered the series’ biggest twist yet. It revealed that the mysterious killer known as Butcherbird is Jocasta, a powerful synthetic whose appearance resembles a female version of Ultron.
In the ending, Vision faces off against Jocasta and can’t defeat her. He makes a desperate decision to hand control of his body to Ultron, who then tricks Jocasta into killing her own hostage.
Jocasta escapes after taking out her final target, and Ultron ends the episode in control of Vision’s body. He also has Tommy Shepherd, the son of Wanda and Vision, played by Ruaridh Mollica.
The reveal has had ripple effects across the franchise. The episode suggests Vision kept a copy of Ultron’s code after ‘Age of Ultron’, which means Ultron may have been inside him when Thanos killed him in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.
Whether Ultron could actually seize control at that point on the Marvel timeline remains unknown. Matalas has said Vision saving Ultron was deliberate, framing their bond as a Pinocchio-and-Frankenstein character study.

The two episodes are titled ‘Firewall’ and ‘Deadlock’, and they land on Tuesday, October 27. Marvel moved the series to Tuesdays, meaning the episodes arrive a day earlier than initially expected in the U.S.
With Ultron driving Vision’s body, the chapters will determine whether Vision can regain control and protect Tommy. There’s also the question of whether Tommy will cross paths with his twin brother, Billy, as the story continues.

‘VisionQuest’ premiered on October 13 with two episodes, titled ‘No Strings’ and ‘Theseus’, followed by ‘Reboot’ and ‘Malware’ on October 20. Episode 7, ‘Immolation’, follows on November 3, and the finale, ‘Forever’, arrives on November 10.
The cast also includes Todd Stashwick as bounty hunter Paladin, along with James D’Arcy, Emily Hampshire and Orla Brady voicing the AI personas that manifest inside Vision’s programming. The show pairs old-school MCU lore with new characters in a way few Marvel series have attempted.
For fans of the franchise, the arrival of Jocasta marks a long-awaited MCU debut for a deep-cut Avengers character. Some viewers have hoped she won’t be confined to this series, even if it takes years for her to appear again.
