‘Office Romance’ Star Jennifer Lopez Reveals Her Secrets to Staying “Hot” at 56

Jennifer Lopez is still showing the same strong fitness focus she has had for years, and it is closely linked to how she prepares for her acting roles.

Lopez, who is 56, has kept a consistent workout routine for decades. She has said that staying in shape is part of her job, especially when she knows she will appear on screen. She explained in an interview with Extra, “You know that you’re gonna be on screen. You gotta be prepared… in the gym and eating right. It’s about eating healthy and eating the right things and working out and being consistent. I say these things all the time.”

She has also spoken in past interviews about how discipline is the most important part of her routine. In a 2019 conversation with Us Weekly, she admitted that she does not always feel like working out, especially after long workdays. She said, “Very rarely will I skip my workout. [But] sometimes, I work too late the night before and I’m like, ‘Ugh, I can’t do this.’ But I tell myself, ‘Just do it. It’s only an hour.’ It’s just talking yourself off the ledge of being a lazy bum.”

According to her personal trainer Dodd Romero, who spoke to Us Weekly in 2024, Lopez trains about three times a week with a focus on strength and resistance exercises. He described her training as intense but controlled, and said she is very consistent with her effort. He also said, “Jennifer’s in better shape now than she’s ever been,” adding that she rarely complains during workouts.

Her fitness approach also includes the Tracy Anderson Method, which mixes dance cardio, light weights, and resistance band exercises. Anderson explained that Lopez often uses ankle weights and follows structured leg and core routines designed to shape and strengthen her body.

In more recent comments shared through CBS Mornings, Lopez explained that her focus has shifted even more toward strength training as she gets older. She said, “I lift heavy. I do a lot of weights now because… you need to start doing that in your 30s. As we get older, we lose muscle. We need to build the muscle to maintain a youthful appearance.”

Her routine is not just about gym sessions but also about consistency and recovery. Lopez has built her fitness habits into her lifestyle over many years, which is why she continues to maintain the same training structure rather than constantly changing it.
