‘One Piece’ Season 2 Sneak Peek Drops as Netflix Confirms Early Season 3 Renewal
Netflix used this year’s One Piece Day in Tokyo to make some huge announcements about its live-action version of Eiichiro Oda’s hit manga. Fans got their first real look at season 2, plus the surprise news that a third season is already on the way.

During the event, Netflix showed off new photos and a teaser for season 2. Iñaki Godoy returns as Monkey D. Luffy, joined by Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Jacob Romero as Usopp.
The teaser also revealed several fresh faces. Lera Abova will play Miss All-Sunday, Charithra Chandran is stepping in as Miss Wednesday, Callum Kerr will take on Captain Smoker, and Brendan Murray is playing Brogy.

In the teaser, Luffy declares, “Everything I’ve done, everywhere I go is for the One Piece.” The official description from Netflix says, “Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”
Season 2 doesn’t have a set release date yet, but it is confirmed to launch in 2026. Even before it airs, Netflix has given the green light for season 3. Filming for the next chapter will begin later this year in Cape Town, South Africa.
There will be a shift behind the scenes as well. Matt Owens and Joe Tracz worked together as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers for season 2, but for season 3, Joe Tracz will share those duties with Ian Stokes. Earlier this year, Owens announced he would step away from the project “to take a break and focus on myself and my mental health.”
Fans also got another look at a moment that first appeared during Netflix’s Tudum event earlier this year. That’s when the streamer showed Tony Tony Chopper for the first time. The fan-favorite reindeer-boy hybrid is voiced by Mikaela Hoover, who said, “What excited me about playing Chopper is the tug of war between his standoffishness and his huge heart. He tries so hard to hide his emotions and put on a tough exterior, but underneath, he’s a big softy, and his love can’t help but come out.”
Between the familiar crew, the lineup of new characters, and the early promise of season 3, Netflix made it clear they’re not slowing down with One Piece. The Straw Hats’ next journey into the Grand Line is shaping up to be bigger, wilder, and packed with more adventure than ever.
