2023 wasn’t all that good for the MCU; over the course of the year, several movies and shows have been released, with only ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ and ‘Loki’ Season 2 being successful. The rest of the projects flopped, with ‘Secret Invasion’ being one of the worst MCU shows in recent times and ‘The Marvels’ claiming all the bad records like the lowest domestic box office and lowest 2nd-weekend drop in revenue.

Still, the MCU continues, and Bob Iger himself commented that Marvel should focus on quality over quantity. Considering how many new projects have been announced in the last few months, it’s surprising to see only one movie and five shows releasing in 2024.

There were rumors before that ‘Deadpool 3’ will be the only movie to release in 2024 in an attempt to revitalize the MCU and return the hype, and considering that ‘Deadpool 3’ is currently the movie that generates the most hype, this is not as surprising.

As far as the shows go, ‘Echo’ is the only one currently dated, expected to be released on January 9th, 2024. ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ is expected to be released in the Fall of 2024. Despite being announced just a few days ago, an animated project centering on Wakandan warriors ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ is also expected to come out in 2024 along with ‘X-Men 97’ and ‘Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.’ It looks like 2024 is going to be a year of animated content as far as things currently stand.

Fans noted the absence of ‘Zombies’ and ‘Iron Heart’, pointing out that by the time the show releases, there will be too great of a gap between the show and ‘Black Panther 2’ movie, and Riri will basically be a grown-up. It won’t make sense to include her in the Young Avengers, which is something that was pointed out for the rest of the potential Young Avengers. This problem made itself obvious following various shuffling of release dates that resulted from the historic SAG-AFTRA strikes and other internal problems with MCU projects being less and less successful with every new release.

But this is only a Marvel division of products, Star Wars fans have something to look forward to as well, with ‘The Acolyte,’ ‘Bad Batch’ Season 3, ‘Skeleton Crew’ and ‘Tales of the Jedi’ set to be released sometime in 2024, currently without a release date.
