Paris Hilton Calls ADHD Her “Superpower”
Paris Hilton is opening up about how ADHD has shaped her career and mindset. The 44-year-old media mogul and original influencer told Jay Shetty on the On Purpose podcast that her neurodivergent brain gives her a unique edge in business and creativity.
I have always been someone who just loves to do things and take risks and do things before anyone else, Hilton explained during the January 21, episode. She credits her ADHD with helping her think outside the box and pursue opportunities others might shy away from.
Hilton, who was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, says she struggled with the condition as a teen. But now she calls it her superpower, saying it fuels her drive and provides a constant flow of ideas. I know I would not be the woman I am today or the entrepreneur without it, she said. She also pointed out that her ability to hyperfocus allows her to dive deeply into projects she cares about. That’s where the magic happens, she added.
Before her diagnosis, Hilton often felt frustrated and worried that something was wrong. She recalled difficulties in school, losing homework, and struggling with tests despite her efforts. She also described dealing with rejection-sensitive dysphoria, an intense emotional reaction to criticism. It’s exhausting. And it’s painful, and it’s very difficult to go through, she admitted.
Today, Hilton is using her platform to encourage others to see ADHD as a strength. She explained that many creative and brilliant people she knows also navigate the world with ADHD, and that it can be a good thing if understood and managed properly.
Hilton’s discussion comes as she prepares for her new feature-length concert documentary, Infinite Icon: A Visual Memoir, which will hit theaters globally on January 30. The film follows her journey recording her second studio album and performing at the Hollywood Palladium. It continues the story she began with her 2020 documentary and 2023 memoir.
In addition to her music, Hilton continues to expand her 11:11 Media empire and recently signed a multi-year deal with McCormick for new culinary content. She is also active in advocacy, working with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to push the DEFIANCE Act, which aims to protect victims of nonconsensual AI-generated deepfakes.
On the personal front, Hilton is focused on raising her two children, Phoenix and London, with transparency and presence, using her own past experiences as a guide for parenting.
From reality TV star to entrepreneur, musician, and activist, Hilton credits ADHD as a driving force behind her bold choices and creative output. I have always been someone who just loves to do things and take risks, she said, underscoring that what some might see as a challenge has actually become a defining advantage.
