The final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan has made a major move in the franchise by introducing a younger version of a character who will become very important in the wider Power universe.

The latest episode of the Starz series reveals that Tiana (played by Asjha Cooper) has been hiding a key detail about her past. During a conversation with Kanan (Mekai Curtis), she tells him that he does not even know her real name. When he asks her directly, she finally reveals it: Jarita.

This moment confirms that Tiana is actually Jarita, who will later become the mother of Kanan’s son, Shawn, in the original Power series. The reveal connects the current storyline directly to future events in the franchise timeline.

Jarita will remain in the final season of Raising Kanan as a guest character. After that, she is expected to become a series regular in the upcoming prequel series Power: Origins. That new show is already in production in New Jersey and will expand the early history of key characters in the Power universe.

Jarita is not a completely new name for long-time viewers. The character briefly appeared in Power Season 2, where she was played by Tasha Smith, but she had a much smaller role at the time and was not fully explored.

The upcoming series Power: Origins will focus on younger versions of several major characters, including Ghost, Tommy, and Kanan. It will show how they rise through the criminal world of New York before the events of the original series. Spence Moore will play Ghost, Charlie Mann will play Tommy, and Zuri Reed will play Tasha. Mekai Curtis will also return as young Kanan.

The show is planned as an 18-episode first season, which makes it one of the more ambitious entries in the franchise so far. It is part of a larger expansion of the Power universe that continues to grow across multiple spin-offs and timelines.

Alongside Raising Kanan and Power: Origins, Starz is also developing another series called Power: Legacy. That show will feature Joseph Sikora and Michael Rainey Jr., continuing the stories of characters from the original series.

The franchise continues to be overseen by a large creative team. Sascha Penn serves as showrunner and executive producer for both the final season of Raising Kanan and Power: Origins. The series are developed from work by Courtney Kemp, the creator of the original Power. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson also executive produces through G-Unit Film and Television, alongside Mark Canton, Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, and Pete Chatmon. Lionsgate Television produces the shows for Starz.

The introduction of Jarita is another example of how the Power franchise carefully connects its storylines across different shows. By linking characters from past and future series, the universe continues to build a long, connected narrative that expands beyond a single timeline.
