Several months ago Marvel Studios announced the the actors that will be playing the core roles of the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. Pedro Pascal was chosen to portray Reed Richards alongside Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm. The duo will be joined by Joseph Quinn’s Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s The Thing. Julia Garner will be portraying Shalla-Bal MCU’s version of Silver Surfer.

The casting was highly scandalous, the majority of the hate directed toward Garner’s Silver Surfer but Pedro Pascal received some comments as well, as a good portion of the fandom doesn’t think that he has what it takes to play Mr. Fantastic, still hung up on the idea of Krasinski as Reed Richards.

In the latest interview with Salaam Nerds Rahul Kohli revealed that he was in the running to score the role but eventually lost to ‘The Last of Us’ star. His perception of the loss changes on a day-to-day basis as he explained.

Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing. But on good days, I see the Constantine, it will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted!’ People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything. On bad days, ‘It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.’ So, it’s sweet and it’s perspective. It’s how you feel about yourself.

Rahul Kohli was often fan-cast as Reed Richards, but as some fans pointed out he might not be the perfect fit for that retro-futurist 60’s aesthetic that the studio was aiming for.

‘The Fantastic Four’ is scheduled to be released on July 25, 2025. Filming is anticipated to kick off in August 2024 at Pinewood Studios in London. Director Matt Shakman, known for his work on Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series “WandaVision” (2021), was initially in discussions to helm the film. Kevin Feige officially confirmed Shakman as the director at the D23 Expo the following month.
