Owen Wilson’s golf comedy ‘Stick‘ quietly became one of Apple TV’s more charming surprises last year, pulling off the same kind of found-family warmth that made ‘Ted Lasso’ such a phenomenon. With Lasso’s fourth season currently wrapping up its run, Apple has been building toward its next feel-good sports comedy to fill that void, and the timing couldn’t be better.

That next chapter is finally here. Apple TV has released the first teaser confirming new details about Season 2, and the streamer is bringing in some serious dramatic firepower to round out its ensemble.

The first teaser has arrived for Rhea Seehorn joining the cast of ‘Stick’ Season 2 alongside Owen Wilson. Apple TV confirmed the casting news alongside a premiere date, with Season 2 set to debut November 4 with two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly through December 30.

Seehorn, best known for her Emmy-nominated run on ‘Better Call Saul’ and her more recent turn in ‘Pluribus,’ joins the cast as Amanda, a new golf coach working alongside Wilson’s character, Pryce Cahill. Her casting adds a notable prestige-drama credential to a show that’s largely built its identity on comedic ensemble chemistry so far.

‘Stick’ follows Pryce, a former professional golfer whose career collapsed prematurely two decades ago, as he rebuilds his life by mentoring a teenage golf prodigy named Santi, played by Peter Dager. Season 1 tracked the pair’s evolving relationship as Santi pursued a future in professional golf, ending with the suggestion that Pryce himself might return to competitive play.

Season 2 picks up on exactly that thread, following Pryce’s attempt at an improbable comeback as he tries to become the oldest golfer ever to win a major, a goal that also forces him to confront why his original career never lived up to expectations. Seehorn’s Amanda steps in as his new coach for that journey, working alongside Marc Maron’s returning caddie character, Mitts.

The rest of the returning ensemble includes Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Judy Greer, and Timothy Olyphant, whose character Clark Ross reportedly plays a role in encouraging Pryce’s comeback attempt. New additions beyond Seehorn include John Higgins, Billy Zane, Rex Linn, Sasha Alexander, and Missi Pyle, giving Season 2 a noticeably larger cast than its freshman run.

The show is also leaning further into its golf-world authenticity for the new season. Real broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman are set to return for guest appearances, alongside Good Good’s Matt Scharff and golf writer Dan Rapaport, continuing the mix of real sports personalities that helped ground Season 1’s world.

With 10 total episodes on the way and a cast that now blends comedic regulars with dramatic heavyweights like Seehorn, ‘Stick’ appears to be leaning into a bigger, more ambitious version of itself for its sophomore outing. Fans hoping the show can carry Apple’s sports-comedy torch now that ‘Ted Lasso’ has wrapped its latest chapter won’t have to wait too much longer to find out, with the new season teeing off this November.
