Kate Hudson appeared at the Los Angeles premiere of Marty, Life Is Short in a striking but simple look that leaned heavily into clean design and strong colour.

Hudson wore a marigold suede gown by Tod’s from the Spring 2026 collection. The dress had a sleeveless column shape with a long, straight silhouette. The design stayed minimal, with no heavy decoration, which made the fabric and colour stand out more. The suede texture added depth to the look, giving it a soft but rich finish under the lights.

The marigold shade itself was a key part of the outfit. It is a warm colour that matched Hudson’s complexion and also fit the seasonal tone of the event. The styling choice kept everything focused and uncluttered, which made the outfit feel modern and easy rather than overly styled.

From the front, the gown looked simple and clean. However, side photos showed that the cut created a deeper opening along the bodice than expected. The fit appeared looser from that angle, which created more movement in the fabric and added a slightly more revealing effect than the straight-on view suggested.

Hudson later added a brown leather trench coat from Tod’s when she posed with Eugene Levy and Martin Short. The coat changed the mood of the outfit slightly, adding structure and warmth while still staying in the same earthy colour family. The combination of brown leather over marigold suede kept the styling cohesive rather than contrasting.

She finished the look with black pointed pumps that blended into the dark carpet and gold jewellery that added a soft shine without overpowering the outfit. Everything stayed in line with a minimal styling approach, keeping focus on the dress rather than accessories.

The event itself was for the documentary Marty, Life Is Short, directed by Lawrence Kasdan and produced by a team including Sara Bernstein and Meredith Kaulfers. The film focuses on comedian Martin Short and includes interviews and archive footage. It is set to stream on Netflix, with a release date scheduled for May 12.

Hudson’s appearance fit the tone of the night, which was centered around celebrating Martin Short’s career. Her outfit stood out because of its simplicity rather than heavy styling, making it one of the more understated red carpet looks of the premiere.
