‘Running Point’ Star Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas Team Up for New Erotic Thriller ‘Palm Grove’
Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas are joining forces for a new big-screen thriller that is already attracting attention in Hollywood. According to Deadline, the two actresses are set to star in “Palm Grove,” an original erotic thriller being developed by Chernin Entertainment.
The project comes from writer James Morosini, who created the original screenplay, while award-winning filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó is attached to direct. Chernin Entertainment is preparing to take the film package to studios and streaming platforms, with sources telling Deadline that the project is expected to create strong interest because of its cast and creative team.
“Palm Grove” takes place in one of Miami’s most exclusive neighborhoods. The story follows a seemingly perfect wife who discovers that her husband has been hiding a secret life. After the shocking discovery, she becomes involved in a dangerous and seductive power game where betrayal turns into a thrilling challenge.
Morosini will also serve as an executive producer on the movie. Peter Chernin, David Ready, and Brady Fujikawa will produce the film for Chernin Entertainment.
The new thriller arrives after Chernin Entertainment recently made another major deal with Apple for the romantic comedy “One Month Mark,” which stars Jennifer Lawrence. The company has been building momentum with several successful projects, including “Backrooms,” which has earned more than $260 million worldwide, and “Apex,” which reached the top spot on Netflix’s global English film chart.
Hudson and de Armas both bring major star power to the project. Hudson has had a strong year following her acclaimed performance in “Song Sung Blue,” which earned her nominations from major awards groups. She also stars in and executive produces Netflix’s comedy series “Running Point,” which has been renewed for another season. Hudson is currently filming “Hello & Paris” with Javier Bardem.
De Armas has also become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actresses. She earned an Academy Award nomination for her performance in “Blonde” and received a Golden Globe nomination for “Knives Out.” Her recent projects include the action film “Ballerina” and the James Bond movie “No Time to Die.” She is currently working on the Apple TV+ limited series “Safe Houses.”
Director Kornél Mundruczó brings strong filmmaking experience to “Palm Grove.” The Hungarian filmmaker is known for projects such as “White God,” which won a prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and “Pieces of a Woman,” which was executive produced by Martin Scorsese. His latest work includes “At the Sea,” which premiered at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival, and the upcoming film “The Place to Be.”
Morosini is also building a reputation as a filmmaker who creates original stories. He wrote, directed, and starred in “I Love My Dad,” which won awards at SXSW before being released by Magnolia. He has also worked on projects including “Mommy’s Home” for Lionsgate and “Inner Child,” which is being developed for the Lego universe.
With Hudson, de Armas, Mundruczó, and Morosini involved, “Palm Grove” is shaping up to be one of the more talked-about thriller packages currently looking for a home. More details about the release date and studio behind the film are expected to be announced later.
