‘Rust’ Star Alec Baldwin Relists His Hamptons Estate for $19 Million After Years of Back-and-Forth
Celebrity real estate rarely moves in a straight line, and few properties illustrate that better than Alec Baldwin’s longtime Hamptons retreat. The actor’s on-again, off-again relationship with the market has become something of a running story in itself, with the estate cycling through listings, price cuts, and withdrawals for years now.
Baldwin originally purchased the property in Amagansett, New York, back in 1996 for $1.7 million, and it has served as his family’s summer getaway ever since, even appearing on the couple’s short-lived TLC reality series ‘The Baldwins.’ The actor first put the home on the market in 2022, kicking off a saga that’s played out through multiple asking prices and false starts.
That saga has now entered its fourth chapter. According to TMZ, Baldwin has relisted the Hamptons home for $19 million, marking the fourth time the property has hit the market since he originally bought it, and representing a $2,000,000 reduction from the $21,000,000 price he was asking just last year.
The timing lines up with what’s become a familiar seasonal pattern for the property, with Baldwin putting the estate back up for sale as summer winds down after failing to find a buyer at the higher price point. Records show the home has bounced between asking prices ranging from a high of $29,000,000 back in 2022 down to the current figure, with the listing disappearing from the market entirely on more than one occasion over the past few years.
The 10,000-square-foot estate sits on a 10-acre spread and includes seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, along with amenities like a home theater, wine-tasting room, and a wood-paneled library. The property, reportedly originally built in 1740, also features a pool, barn, and extensive grounds bordering a nature preserve, giving it the kind of scale and privacy that’s typical of the area’s most prized estates.
Baldwin himself has previously gone to unusual lengths to help move the property, even starring in a promotional video for his real estate brokerage where he reminisced about his decades-long history on the East End of Long Island. He recalled first renting a home in Amagansett before eventually purchasing the property he’s now trying to sell, describing his early years there as some of his best memories of the area.
Despite that personal touch, the home has struggled to attract a buyer through several previous attempts, even as the Baldwins reportedly accepted an offer on the property at one point before ultimately deciding to keep it. That back-and-forth has continued into this latest relisting, suggesting the family remains genuinely torn between holding onto the estate and finally letting it go.
Currently, the family maintains their primary residence in New York City along with a 55-acre property in Vermont, meaning the Hamptons home functions purely as a vacation retreat rather than a necessity. Whether this latest price reduction finally attracts a serious offer remains to be seen, but given the property’s history, another chapter in this ongoing real estate saga wouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Do you think Alec Baldwin will finally sell his Hamptons estate for $19 million?
