Samara Weaving Once Pretended to Be ‘Wuthering Heights’ Star Margot Robbie for a Fan at an Airport
Actress Samara Weaving shared a funny story about a past case of mistaken identity involving Margot Robbie.
Weaving explained that about ten years ago, she was at an airport when a fan approached her and believed she was Robbie. Instead of correcting the situation, she went along with it. She said, “I remember I was in an airport. It must have been like 10 years ago, and someone thought I was Margot. I just couldn’t break it to them that I wasn’t, so I posed for a photo with the fan, saying that I was Margot.”
She added that she sometimes wonders what happened after that moment. In her words, “I don’t know, they might have looked at it later and been like, that’s not— that’s some random lady. So yeah, I might be in someone’s phone thinking that it’s Margot, but other than that, no. I don’t leave the house enough.”
The story highlights how often Weaving is compared to Margot Robbie by fans online. People have pointed out their similar looks for years, and she is also sometimes compared to other actresses such as Emma Mackey and Jaime Pressly. Despite the mix-ups, Weaving and Robbie are actually friends in real life.
The two actresses have worked in similar Hollywood circles and have supported each other at different events over the years. They both appeared in the film Babylon, and they have also attended each other’s premieres. Weaving was present at the Barbie premiere in 2023 to show support for Robbie. Later, Robbie returned the support by attending a screening of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come in Los Angeles.
During the same PEOPLE interview, Weaving also spoke about her personal life and the support she has received from friends, especially as she prepares for motherhood. She mentioned that Robbie, who welcomed a child with her husband Tom Ackerley in 2024, has been part of a group of friends offering advice and encouragement.
Weaving said, “Oh my gosh, all my girls here who are moms have just been so lovely, and I think what they all tell me is just, ‘You do it your way. Whatever makes you feel comfortable.’” She also added, “I think our society, there’s so many voices and opinions and that it’s tough for women, especially when they’re pregnant and being a mom. So they’re all just so supportive of, whatever I want to do is good.”
Outside of personal stories, Weaving is also promoting her new movie Carolina Caroline. The film, directed by Adam Carter Rehmeier, follows two lovers who go on a chaotic crime spree across the American Southeast. It also stars Kyle Gallner and originally premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 5.
