Scarlett Johansson turned heads at the Seoul premiere of Jurassic World: A New Beginning, wearing a stunning white dress on the red carpet. The premiere event, held at the Four Seasons Hotel on July 1, came ahead of the movie’s official release in Korea on July 2.

The film, distributed by Universal Pictures, is being called one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, Jurassic World: A New Beginning takes the franchise in a bold new direction. This time, Scarlett Johansson plays Zora, a character who, along with Dr. Henry (played by Jonathan Bailey), must travel to a dangerous island that once housed secret labs from the original Jurassic Park.

Their mission is to uncover hidden truths and try to save humanity, all while surviving deadly dinosaurs.

What made this premiere even more special was that, for the first time in the Jurassic series, the director and lead cast visited Korea together. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Gareth Edwards all attended the event.

During the press conference, Scarlett shared how excited she was to be back in Korea after eight years. “I’m so thrilled to be in Korea. I’m happy to be back. I wish I had more time. This morning, I bought many skincare products in Myeongdong. That’s something I had to do, so I went there from morning. I think I had seven kinds of kimchi for breakfast,” she said with a laugh. She also added, “I’m looking forward to meeting fans today. Korean fans always give so much hospitality, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Talking about her experience filming the movie, Scarlett explained how challenging it was to act without real dinosaurs on set. “The most difficult part was that we couldn’t actually see the dinosaurs; instead, we had to act as if we were looking at a tennis ball on a stick,” she said. “There were high levels of tension with the continuous action. As soon as the cue sign dropped, I had to show a fearful look, and then if a camera issue happened and I had to wait for a few minutes, I would relax and then have to get tense again. Those parts of lowering and raising my tension were the most difficult.”

Despite those challenges, she said the cast supported each other a lot. “Our fellow actors are amazing, and we depended on each other to maintain immersion,” she said. “Trusting and relying on my co-actors is really important. We were lucky that it turned out well.”

Scarlett also talked about how much the role and the script meant to her. “I feel really lucky. After reading the script that the director wrote, I understood it, and I consider it a great honor to be part of the Jurassic universe,” she said. She also shared that she was surprised by how open the filmmakers were to her input. “I hoped that the character Zora would feel vividly human. I didn’t expect that they would have open discussions about the character, but the production team frequently asked for my opinions. It was a very productive conversation.”

She recalled how her thoughts were even included in later versions of the script. “A few weeks later, David gave me a revised script that reflected everyone’s opinions. They listened to my opinions and respected them. Seeing this, I thought that across all dimensions, my dream had come true. I can hardly believe that I influenced something like this, and I’m still trying to process it. My childhood dream has become a reality.”

“Jurassic World Rebirth” is about to land in theaters, but it’s not exactly the roaring comeback Universal Pictures was likely hoping for. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, the movie is the latest in the long-running Jurassic Park franchise, and it’s already getting hit with some harsh reviews.

As of now, the film is sitting at just 54% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 99 reviews. So no, it’s not like only a few critics have weighed in, this is a big sample, and the response is not great.
