Set sightings have a way of taking over the internet overnight, especially when two acclaimed actresses show up somewhere unexpected, working on something nobody saw coming. That’s exactly what happened this month when cameras caught two of Hollywood’s most respected performers sharing the screen in an entirely new way.

London has become something of a production hotspot this summer, with film crews popping up across the city for a wide range of projects. But one particular sighting caught fans completely off guard, sending social media into a frenzy within hours of the first photos surfacing.

Rebecca Ferguson and Greta Lee were spotted filming together at Horse Guards Parade in central London, working on what’s being described as an untitled romantic comedy centered on a romance between two women. The footage, which quickly went viral, showed the pair sharing an embrace and a kiss while filming near the historic parade grounds.

No studio or production company has officially confirmed details about the project, leaving fans to piece together clues from the set photos and a telling comment Lee made in a recent interview. Speaking with her ‘Late Fame’ co-star Willem Dafoe for Interview Magazine, Lee revealed she was heading to London for a new project, admitting she was scared to take it on.

“It’s a romance, but it’s between two women, and I haven’t done that before,” Lee told Dafoe, before adding with a laugh, “Full on, baby. I’m doing my stretches.” That comment, paired directly with the London set photos, has fueled widespread speculation that Ferguson and Lee are playing the central couple in the film.

For Ferguson, the project would mark a notable shift after years spent building a reputation across blockbuster franchises and prestige television. She’s currently known for her role in ‘Silo’ and is set to return as Lady Jessica in ‘Dune: Part Three,’ though she’s confirmed her appearance in that sequel is limited to a single scene.

Lee, meanwhile, has spent recent years becoming one of the industry’s most sought-after performers, following her Golden Globe-nominated turn in ‘Past Lives.’ Her latest film, ‘Late Fame,’ directed by Kent Jones and adapted from an Arthur Schnitzler novella, opened in New York on August 7 to strong reviews for both her performance and Dafoe’s.

Lee also has a busy slate ahead outside this mystery project, including reprising her role as the holographic AI assistant LYLA in ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.’ Neither actress currently has this untitled rom-com listed among their confirmed upcoming projects, which has only added to the mystery surrounding exactly what the two are working on together.

The reaction across social media has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic, with fans expressing excitement over the unexpected pairing of two performers not typically associated with romantic comedy. Given the caliber of both leads and the novelty of seeing them cast opposite each other, the project has quickly become one of the more talked-about mystery productions of the summer.

Because the shoot has been kept largely under wraps, an official announcement covering the film’s title, director, writer and release date may still be some weeks away. What the London set sightings do confirm, though, is that production is already actively underway, meaning by the time studios formally unveil the project, filming could be well into its later stages or finished entirely.

For now, fans are left analyzing every available clip and photo for hints about the story, tone and eventual release plans for the film. Given how quickly this pairing captured attention with just a handful of set photos, it’s safe to assume anticipation will only keep building the longer official details stay under wraps.
