‘Sinners’ Continues Box Office Success with Small Drop in Second Weekend

The horror film Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, is performing exceptionally well at the box office. In its second weekend, the movie earned $45 million in the U.S., a drop of only 6% from its $48 million opening weekend.
This is one of the smallest second-weekend declines for a major film in recent history, especially impressive for a horror movie, which typically sees larger drops.
Globally, Sinners has grossed $161.6 million so far. With a production budget of around $90 million, the film is on track to become a significant hit. Some experts believe it could surpass $300 million worldwide by the end of its theatrical run.
The film’s success is attributed to its unique blend of horror, drama, and musical elements, as well as strong performances and direction. Premium formats like IMAX contributed significantly, accounting for 21% of global revenue.
Sinners tells the story of twin brothers in 1930s Mississippi who confront a supernatural evil. The film has received critical acclaim and continues to draw audiences, indicating a strong demand for original storytelling in cinemas.
