Colin Jost is officially set to continue his run as the face of the Jeopardy! universe’s most stylish spinoff. On Friday, January 23, the official social media account for Pop Culture Jeopardy! confirmed that the Saturday Night Live star will return as host for the show’s second season.

The announcement served as the final piece of the puzzle for the series, which is currently undergoing a high-profile transition between streaming giants. While the show was renewed in October, it was also revealed that it would be moving from its original home on Prime Video to Netflix for its upcoming 2026 slate.

Fans had been speculating about whether the “Weekend Update” anchor would follow the show to its new platform, making the recent confirmation a welcome relief for loyal viewers.

The spinoff takes the classic “answer-and-question” format that has defined Jeopardy! since 1964 and gives it a modern, energetic twist. Teams of three contestants compete in a tournament-style format, answering clues that range from the nuances of alternative rock to the deep lore of the Avengers.

Suzanne Prete, president of game shows at Sony Pictures TV, highlighted the success of the first season as a major factor in the show’s expansion. “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” captivated an audience with its fun and energetic gameplay, building on the beloved franchise and offering fans an opportunity to test their zeitgeist knowledge, she said in a statement.

The series is designed to combine the academic rigor of the flagship show with the unpredictability of the cultural zeitgeist. The first season, which debuted in December 2024, saw teams battling for a $300,000 grand prize, a tradition expected to continue under the Netflix banner.

Aside from his game show duties, Colin Jost has been keeping a very busy schedule as he enters his 12th year behind the “Weekend Update” desk. Despite rumors of a potential departure, he returned for SNL Season 51 this past fall, continuing his record-breaking run as the longest-serving anchor in the segment’s history alongside Michael Che.

Fans of the comedian can also look forward to his upcoming film project, The Breadwinner, which is currently scheduled for a March 13, 2026, release. Directed by Eric Appel and based on a script by Nate Bargatze, the comedy stars Bargatze in his film debut, alongside Mandy Moore and Will Forte.

Jost has also been active on the stand-up circuit, with a series of tour dates scheduled throughout February and March 2026 in New York and Pennsylvania. In his personal life, he has recently been seen supporting his wife, Scarlett Johansson, at several high-profile screenings for her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great.

While a specific premiere date for the second season of Pop Culture Jeopardy! has yet to be finalized, the move to Netflix is expected to provide the show with an even broader global reach. Production for the new episodes is reportedly set to begin this spring, ensuring that fans won’t have to wait too long to see Jost back at the podium.
