‘Snow White’ Makes $3.5 Million in Previews on Thursday

Snow White is finally coming to theaters. That much we know. The initial reviews for the movie were positive, but once more critics revealed their impressions, the scores started falling down and while the movie has not been described as a catastrophe, the critics aren’t really satisfied.

The audience scores are yet to be revealed, but based on everything, it seems that the movie will end up being a flop. Not a disaster, but definitely a flop, and the first box office numbers we have – which encompass the previews – suggest it is going to be like that.

The first box office numbers for Snow White are in, and it seems that the movie managed to earn just $3.5 million during Thursday’s previews.

This will definitely be a disappointment for Disney, seeing how the film had a staggering $ 250 million budget. Predictions claim that the movie could total a $100 million opening weekend ($45-55 domestic, $55 international), which is far below Disney’s expectations.

The preview numbers are closer to Dumbo‘s underwhelming box office performance and significantly below The Little Mermaid, which managed to get $10.3 million during its preview screenings.

The movie will have to earn a lot to just break even, while a profit seems to be out of reach at this point. The numbers might end up surprising us in the end, but it is very likely that Snow White will be hurt by the controversies and that it is going to be reflected at the box office.
