”Something Is Coming”: Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Clock Is Counting Down Fans’ Sanity at Comic Con

San Diego Comic Con has become the place where Marvel loves to remind fans just how long they still have to wait for its biggest releases. Between elaborate booth displays and dramatic reveals, the studio has built an entire art form out of making anticipation feel like part of the entertainment itself.

That tradition continued this week as Marvel’s convention presence leaned heavily into hype building spectacle for its most anticipated upcoming crossover. With the film’s theatrical release still months away, the studio found yet another creative way to keep the countdown front and center for anyone walking the show floor.

That creative touch arrived in the form of a physical countdown clock display for ‘Avengers Doomsday’ at the convention, showing hours, minutes and seconds ticking down beneath the glowing phrase “something is coming.” The display sits alongside Marvel’s larger booth presence, which spans two locations on the convention floor filled with costumes, photo ops and other interactive elements tied to the film.

That physical clock mirrors an online version Marvel launched this week, a livestream titled “Doomsday Clock” that shows the exact months, days, hours, minutes and seconds counting down to the film’s December 18 release under the ominous phrase “Doomsday is coming.” The digital and physical versions work together to reinforce the same sense of mounting inevitability the studio has built around the film’s marketing.

Much of that momentum traces back to Marvel’s decision to finally release the first full trailer for ‘Avengers Doomsday’ on July 20, just days ahead of the convention. That footage arrived after months of teaser clips that had only played exclusively to CinemaCon and CineEurope audiences earlier in the year, making the full public release a significant moment for fans who had been waiting.

Marvel Studios is capping off its return to Hall H with a presentation scheduled for Saturday, July 25, running from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Pacific time. The studio skipped its usual Hall H appearance in 2025 entirely, keeping its cast in production throughout the summer, which only adds extra weight to this year’s comeback appearance.

Officially, the panel listing keeps things vague, promising only special guests from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe and an exclusive look at what comes next. Still, multiple outlets covering the convention widely expect the Doomsday cast to appear on stage together for the first time, given the timing and the studio’s established marketing patterns.

Premium format tickets for the film also went on sale earlier this week, with ‘Avengers Doomsday’ confirmed to run two hours and forty five minutes. That places it ahead of 2018’s ‘Avengers Infinity War’ in total runtime while still landing shorter than 2019’s ‘Avengers Endgame,’ giving fans a clearer sense of the story’s scale heading into release.

Between the physical booth clock, the online livestream and a packed Hall H return, Marvel has clearly committed to making this year’s Comic Con presence one of its most comprehensive in years. Every element of the rollout seems designed to keep ‘Avengers Doomsday’ at the center of convention conversation from Thursday through the final day of the show.
