Sophia Bush Reveals ‘One Tree Hill’ Reboot Talks Are Happening With the Original Cast
Sophia Bush has opened up about the possibility of returning to Tree Hill, revealing that the original cast of One Tree Hill has been discussing ideas for where their characters could be today.
During an interview with Dexerto while promoting her new Tubi movie Summer’s Last Resort, Bush spoke about the early conversations surrounding a potential revival of the popular teen drama. She explained that the discussions began with the show’s main cast before expanding to others connected to the series.
“I think something that’s been cool about even exploring it – obviously we started with conversations with the core five and spread outward from there – was just hearing what everyone thinks they’d be doing, because when you’ve had something be a part of your life for 20 years, you can’t help but have ideas about it,” Bush told Dexerto.
One Tree Hill originally premiered in 2003 on The WB before moving to The CW, where it continued until ending its run in 2012. The series followed the lives of five main characters in the fictional town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, including Brooke Davis, played by Bush, along with Lucas Scott, Nathan Scott, Peyton Sawyer, and Haley James Scott, portrayed by Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Hilarie Burton Morgan, and Bethany Joy Lenz.
Bush’s character Brooke started the series as a confident and popular high school cheerleader before growing into a successful fashion entrepreneur. When discussing a possible revival, the actress said she has enjoyed hearing different ideas about what each character’s future could look like.
The actress also talked about her own connection to comedy and how she would enjoy exploring that side of herself again. “I started my career as a comedian, and to be getting back into the comedy space, it just brings me so much joy, you know?” Bush said.
During the conversation, Summer’s Last Resort co-star Jerry O’Connell joked about what Brooke’s life could look like in a new version of One Tree Hill. The discussion led to a funny idea of Brooke becoming a stand-up comedian, something Bush admitted would be a surprising direction for the character.

“Oh, my goodness. I don’t know that I could imagine her doing stand-up, but it does give me something to think about,” Bush said.
O’Connell then joked about the possibility of a Brooke Davis comedy special being released alongside the reboot. Bush laughed at the idea but felt it might be too unusual for the character.
“Oh my God. It’s too far. That actually reads sci-fi to me. Like we’ve woken up in another dimension. And everyone’s doing like a different thing that makes no sense,” she said.
While Netflix has been linked to discussions about a possible One Tree Hill revival, no official details about the project have been confirmed yet. There is currently no announcement regarding the cast, story, or release date.
