Sophia Di Martino Refuses to Shut the Door on a Sylvie Return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Sophia Di Martino has spent years as one of the most watched names in Marvel fandom, and the question that follows her everywhere is simple: will Sylvie return? With ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ closing in on its theatrical debut, that question has become louder than ever. Marvel Studios has stayed silent, and the actress has been careful not to give anything away.
The multiverse-sized crossover is set to open on December 18. It brings together an enormous ensemble, including characters from the Fox X-Men and Fantastic Four films, and fans have spent months combing through every clue about who else might appear.
Sylvie began as a fugitive Loki variant in the Disney+ series ‘Loki’ and became central to the franchise’s multiverse storyline after she killed He Who Remains. That act caused the Sacred Timeline to branch. In the second season, she was shown living a quieter life in a branched timeline, working in a McDonald’s in Broxton, Oklahoma in 1982.
By the end of that season, Loki sacrificed himself to take the place of the Temporal Loom, which gave Sylvie her freedom. The cost was that she would never see him again. That ending left her story deliberately open, which is exactly why so many fans believe she has more to do.
In comments reported by Digital Spy, Di Martino was asked about the chance of Sylvie turning up in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. She did not confirm anything. She said it was lovely that fans are so eager to see the character come back, and she added that she would never rule it out.
It is a classic non-answer, but the timing makes it interesting. Di Martino has been open about wanting more. In an earlier interview, she told GamesRadar+ “I just want to do as much Sylvie as I can.” She has also said the possibilities for the character are limitless.
The rumor mill has plenty of fuel. A now-deleted Instagram story from the actress showed her in a black hat with her surroundings hidden, and fans took it as a hint. Reports also surfaced of her Loki stunt double being spotted in London, where the film was shooting at the time. Neither detail confirmed her involvement.
More recently, Marvel showed a costume labelled ‘Latverian Witch’ at its San Diego Comic-Con booth. The costumes have not appeared in any trailer or official promotion so far, and the identity of those characters has not been confirmed. According to AceShowbiz, Di Martino briefly liked, then removed her like on an Instagram comment about the Latverian Witch theory, which fans read as another wink. She also shared a photo captioned “Working on something a bit different”, which fans linked to the green-clad witch theory.

The facts are thin. Marvel has not announced Di Martino as part of the cast for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, and she was absent from the studio’s official cast announcement in March 2025. Tom Hiddleston is confirmed to be back as Loki, which would make a reunion with Sylvie an obvious story to tell.
At least one outlet has suggested that ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ could offer an even bigger opportunity for her return, which would give Marvel more time to set the character up. For now, any appearance in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ remains speculation.
Sylvie is one of the few characters to come out of the Disney+ era with a clear emotional arc and a direct link to the multiverse conflict. Bringing her back would reward viewers who followed ‘Loki’ closely, and it would give Hiddleston’s character a connection to the larger story. Even a short cameo could carry weight.
Di Martino’s careful phrasing is impossible to read either way. A flat denial would have been news, while a vague answer keeps everyone guessing.
With the release date approaching, answers should come soon enough. Until then, the best reading is that the door is open and nobody is saying who might walk through it.
Do you think Sylvie will return in Avengers: Doomsday?
