‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Deleted Scene? Viral Punisher Van Clip Has Fans Hoping It’s Real

Few pairings in recent Marvel history have clicked with audiences like Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ threw the friendly neighborhood hero together with Marvel’s most violent vigilante, and their odd-couple dynamic quickly became a fan favorite. Now a viral ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ deleted scene is giving fans another reason to love it, though there is a big catch.

The film is Destin Daniel Cretton’s fourth solo Holland outing, and it has been a historic hit. It crossed $2.5 billion worldwide, joining ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and ‘Avatar’ as the third film to reach that mark, and it became the highest-grossing domestic release of all time. It arrived on digital platforms on October 6.

The short video, which fans are describing as a deleted scene, has spread quickly across social media. In the footage, Frank is driving a van with Peter in the passenger seat, still in his Spider-Man suit and visibly beaten up. When Vanessa Carlton’s ‘A Thousand Miles’ starts playing, Frank excitedly announces that he loves the song and begins singing along while Peter stares at him in silence.

The contrast is the whole joke. A stern, battered Frank belting out a 2000s pop hit next to a deadpan Spider-Man plays up the film’s strange-bedfellows energy.

It’s worth being careful here. The clip hasn’t been confirmed as official footage, and the video carries a fan creator’s watermark. None of the officially released deleted scenes or bonus material for the film includes a van moment like this one.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t real, but fans should treat it with caution until Marvel or Sony confirms where it came from. Cretton has reportedly said the film has surprisingly few deleted scenes, though he has also confirmed that different cuts exist.

Some deleted material has been confirmed. A hospital scene shows Peter’s suit and mask being cut off, revealing his identity, and Holland explained in a clip that Peter’s journey is about learning he can’t do things alone. Reports also say Rosario Dawson filmed a scene as Claire Temple that didn’t make the final cut, and behind-the-scenes photos revealed a scrapped confrontation between a police officer and the Punisher during the final act.

Cretton has said a version of the film was tested that ran 30 minutes longer, though he still calls the theatrical version his preferred cut. That suggests plenty of footage exists beyond what audiences saw.

The digital release also came with bonus features focused on the duo. These include a featurette called ‘Peter and The Punisher’, along with ‘Goofs, Gaffes and Gags’, Cretton’s ‘Brand New Direction’ and an action-focused piece called ‘Webs, Wires and Runaway Tanks’. A gag reel surfaced with highlights including on-set exchanges between Holland and Bernthal.

That makes the van clip feel plausible to fans, since it matches the humor of the official outtakes. But plausible isn’t the same as verified.

There’s another reason this matters. Sony is reportedly planning a theatrical re-release of the film with additional footage, including Dawson’s Claire Temple scene, though no date has been announced and the studio has not commented. Reports suggest there could be more surprises beyond that.

If the clip is real, a re-release would be a natural place for it to appear. If it isn’t, the reaction still shows how much audiences want more of Holland and Bernthal together, which is a strong signal for what Marvel and Sony might do with the pair next.

The Punisher’s role was a big part of the movie’s appeal. ‘Brand New Day’ marked Bernthal’s first big-screen team-up with Holland’s Peter Parker, and he plays a version of Frank Castle who brings Spider-Man to a hospital. That odd mix of menace and care is what makes a scene like a singalong in a van so appealing.

Until Marvel or Sony says anything, the clip remains an unverified fan favorite. For now, it’s a funny reminder of how well the two leads play off each other.
