‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Season 4 Just Debuted With a Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

Star Trek has spent decades building a reputation for episodic storytelling that swings wildly between tones, and few current entries in the franchise have leaned into that legacy quite as effectively as ‘Strange New Worlds.’ The prequel series has consistently drawn comparisons to the original 1960s show since its 2022 debut, thanks to its willingness to bounce between genres from week to week.

Anson Mount returns to lead the cast as Captain Pike, joined once again by Ethan Peck, Rebecca Romijn, Jess Bush, Celia Rose Gooding, Christina Chong, Babs Olusanmokun and Martin Quinn. Guest stars Carol Kane and Paul Wesley also factor into the new season, with Wesley reprising his role as James T. Kirk in an expanded capacity.

Co-showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers have continued their pattern of chasing ambitious, genre-bending episodes throughout this run, a strategy that has clearly paid off given the season’s near-universal critical reception so far. Beyond its strong reviews, the show has also picked up numerous nominations throughout its run, including recognition from the Emmys, Critics Choice Television Awards, Saturn Awards and Hugo Awards.

With Season 4 now setting a new bar for the series just as it heads into its final chapters, this perfect Rotten Tomatoes debut adds significant momentum heading into the show’s eventual conclusion. Given how strongly this season has landed with critics, fans have every reason to be excited about what the shortened fifth and final season might have in store.
