Star Wars Celebration Japan Reveals New Manga for Thrawn, Fallen Order, and More
The Star Wars Celebration event has started in Japan, and there’s a lot of exciting news—especially for fans of manga. Lucasfilm Publishing shared some great updates during the “Manga Mania!” panel. Even if you’re not in Japan, here’s a look at everything they announced!
Star Wars: Thrawn Manga Is Coming
A new manga based on the popular Star Wars: Thrawn books is on the way! The story will follow Thrawn, the smart and powerful blue-skinned villain. The manga will be created by Man Tsang. More details are still to come, including the release date.
The Art of Star Wars: A New Hope—The Manga
Dark Horse Comics is bringing back the classic Star Wars: A New Hope manga from 1997! This version was made by Hisao Tamaki and shows the original Star Wars movie in manga form.
There will be two special editions:
- Collector’s Edition – Two hardcover books with new English translation and special covers.
- Masterpiece Edition – A large-size version with the original artwork. It comes with two big volumes and an extra book.
These will be available first through a Kickstarter campaign. A regular version will be sold in comic shops in 2026.
Jedi: Fallen Order Gets a Manga Adaptation
Another exciting manga is based on the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The story is about Cal Kestis, a young Jedi who is hiding from the Empire after Order 66. He goes on a mission to bring back the Jedi Order. This manga will be written by Mangado and published by DPW Milan.
Star Wars: Path of the Lightsaber – A New Story
Another manga coming soon is Star Wars: Path of the Lightsaber. It’s written by Kenny Ruiz and published by VIZ Media. It comes out on November 11, 2025, and will cost $14.99.
The story is about a young girl named Nioka. She lives on a mining ship called Random Luck. One day, she finds a real Jedi lightsaber inside a frozen asteroid. She wants to become a Jedi like Luke Skywalker. But others want the lightsaber too. Will she learn to use it before it’s taken away?
There’s a lot of new Star Wars manga coming, and each one tells a different story. Whether you like classic characters, cool Jedi battles, or stories about new heroes, there’s something for everyone. Manga fans and Star Wars fans alike have a lot to be excited about!
