Steven Spielberg’s Original Dinosaur Hits Are Quietly Taking Over Hulu’s Streaming Charts

There’s a certain kind of movie that never really leaves the cultural conversation, and ‘Jurassic Park‘ is one of them. More than three decades after Steven Spielberg first brought dinosaurs back to life on screen, the franchise continues to prove it has staying power well beyond the multiplex, and its latest streaming surge is only reinforcing that reputation.

Hulu’s current movie rankings tell an interesting story about what audiences are gravitating toward right now. Alongside newer releases and recent theatrical hits, two entries from the original dinosaur franchise have carved out space near the top of the pack, a sign that nostalgia and rewatch value still carry serious weight on streaming platforms.

According to FlixPatrol data, ‘Jurassic World’ ranked No. 3 on Hulu’s Top 10 movies chart in the United States on August 12, 2026. The film notably placed ahead of other popular titles including ‘Muzzle: City of Wolves,’ ‘Jurassic Park,’ ‘Men in Black,’ ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Twilight’ on that same list.

Part of the renewed interest likely traces back to the franchise’s massive theatrical comeback last year. ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ debuted as the No. 1 movie globally in July 2025, earning an outstanding 322.6 million dollars worldwide and marking the biggest global opening of that year. The film went on to clear the 750 million dollar milestone worldwide, grossing 766 million dollars globally after five weekends of release, with overseas audiences contributing heavily to that haul.

That kind of theatrical success tends to send curious viewers back to the earlier films to catch up on the mythology, and Hulu has made that easy. Directed by Colin Trevorrow, ‘Jurassic World’ first hit U.S. theaters on June 12, 2015, and is set 22 years after the events of the original ‘Jurassic Park,’ following the fictional dinosaur park on Isla Nublar after it reopens as a major tourist attraction.

Chris Pratt leads that film’s cast as Owen Grady alongside Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing, and the movie has held up remarkably well with both critics and general audiences in the years since.

The financial numbers only add to the picture of just how dominant this franchise remains. ‘Jurassic World’ became a major box office success on its own, earning 1.67 billion dollars worldwide, including more than 652 million dollars domestically and over 1 billion dollars internationally. Combined with ‘Rebirth’ reigniting mainstream interest, it makes sense that fans are circling back to where the modern chapter of the saga began.

It says something about a franchise when both its original blockbuster and its 2015 reboot can still pull serious numbers on a streaming chart more than a decade and three decades removed from their respective releases.
