Humans have always been fascinated with being able to read the minds of others. Movies have been created about it, books have been written, and people have made careers showing that they can do it. Whether it’s our innate curiosity or our desire to understand all there is to understand, mind reading has held human interest for hundreds of years.

In the world of comics, mind reading and heroes who can do it go hand-in-hand. Not only are there hundreds of superheroes that can do it but it would be nearly impossible to figure out who they are.

And that’s ok. I don’t want to name them all. What I do want is to pick the ten best of them and talk about them a little bit. So, that’s exactly what I’ve done. I’ve picked through hundreds of superheroes that can read minds and found the ten best. Who are they? Here are the 10 most powerful superheroes that can read minds.

List of most powerful superheroes that can read minds:

10. Emma Frost

Emma frost

When we first met Emma Frost, she was simply known as the White Queen. As a member of the Hellfire Club, Emma was both beautiful and deadly. She was their leader and deserved to be so. Over the course of her existence, however, she changed who she aligned herself with and rather than fighting them, she now stands at the side of the X-Men.

With her telepathy, Emma has shown to be capable of affecting how others think and act. If the affected happens to be a mutant, she has actually been able to increase their power by tapping into their brainwaves. In the world of Marvel Comics, Emma is a very strong telepath. This is so much so that when the Phoenix Force was looking for a new host, Emma was chosen as one of five new hosts.

9. Dr. Fate

Although there have been many to wear the Helmet or Fate, each has roughly the same abilities. Each has super strength, is immortal, can both fly and phase, is invulnerable and has telepathic abilities that some of the strongest telepaths can only dream of.

Dr. Fate’s telepathic abilities have allowed him to branch out and reach other areas of the Multiverse. Think about that. No matter where his enemies are or what they’re doing, if Dr. Fate wanted to find and control them, he could.

8. Cable

Cable

Cable is a mutant from the future who travels back through time to exterminate the wrongdoers of the past. He is the son of Scott Summers and Madelyne Pryor and the supposed one to bring down Apocalypse. If not for the Techno-Organic Virus that lives inside him threatening his very existence, Cable might actually be the most powerful of all superheroes who can read minds.

And if you’re wondering, yes, that might even include Charles Xavier.

Alas, the virus is there and because of it, Cable must use a portion of his power to keep it from killing him. Even with that, he’s still a very powerful telepath.

7. Stryfe

Marvel Stryfe

As the clone of Cable, Stryfe is the perfect copy of one of the deadliest mutants in existence. This means that everything that Cable can do, Stryfe can also do. Where they differ, however, is while Cable is limited by the Techno Organic Virus, Stryfe is not.

Yes, you read that correctly. Stryfe is not limited by a disease that threatens to kill him.

But that’s not all.

Unlike Cable who was/is hunted by Apocalypse, Stryfe was raised by Apocalypse. This means that in addition to being one of the deadliest beings in Marvel, Stryfe was also shaped and molded by one of the deadliest beings in Marvel.

6. Jean Grey

Jean Grey

If there was a character as synonymous with the X-Men as Charles Xavier, Jean Grey is it. Not only does she stand firmly at the center of one of the most discussed stories in comic history, The Dark Phoenix Saga, but she is also one of the original five recruits to the team.

Jean Grey is an interesting mutant. As a whole, she’s a little overpowered, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve to be here. It’s quite the opposite. Jean Grey is one of the most powerful superheroes that can read minds because she could read a mind, reprogram it, and let the mind go before the victim even had a chance to take a breath.

5. Saturn Girl

Saturn Girl

Saturn Girl hails from a planet where telepaths are around every corner. Her name is a tribute to her home planet of Titan, which, of course, is one of the Moons of Saturn. She is a founding member of the Legion of Superheroes and actually comes from the 30th Century.

As far as the DC Universe is concerned, Saturn Girl is considered one of their strongest telepaths. In fact, on Titan, she is a Tenth Level Telepath. While this may not sound impressive understand that on a planet filled with naturally gifted telepaths, being Tenth Level is a huge honor.

4. Martian Manhunter

Martian Manhunter

When it comes to DC Comics and their superheroes that can read minds, none may be as incredible as Martian Manhunter. Martian Manhunter is so strong that he has been able to track the Flash through timelines, bent Gods and Demons to his Will, and even protect himself from the most violent telepathic attacks.

J’onn J’onnz is a member of DC’s premiere superhero team, the Justice League. Just because he’s a member doesn’t mean he needs the others to help serve justice. In fact, arguably he doesn’t need any of them to protect the Earth. Martian Manhunter May not just be one of the most powerful members of the League, he might actually be the most powerful member.

3. Spectre

The Spectre

I’ve talked about the Spectre and his place in DC time and again. And for good reason. When it comes to extremely powerful DC characters, very few are as powerful as Spectre.

The Spectre is the living embodiment of God’s Wrath. Due to this, he is capable of reality-warping, can manipulate space and time, project the future, possesses telepathy, and more. For this list, it’s his telepathy I’m most interested in.

His telepathy is nearly unrivaled. What I mean is that he can, on any given day, simultaneously erase the minds of every creature in the DC Multiverse. More impressively though is that he could the. make each of them think they were a chicken and nobody would know any different.

2. Nate Grey

Nate Grey

In an alternate reality known as the Age of Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister took the genetic material from Scott Summers and Jean Grey and artificially created a being. He called the being Nathaniel Grey and hoped to use him as a way to gain power from Apocalypse. Unfortunately, this didn’t work as Nate was rescued by Scott Summers…although at the time neither knew of their connection.

As far as superheroes that can read minds go, Nate Grey is nothing short of outstanding. But he’s not just limited to mind reading. He can also control the minds of multiple people at once, broadcast his thoughts to people all over the Multiverse, pull the astral projections of others into the physical world, and more.

Put it this way, Moira MacTaggert once suggested that his psionic abilities were even or stronger than a Phoenix Force fuelled Jean Grey.

1. Professor X

Professor X

The founder of the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier is one of the most powerful superheroes that can read minds. He is an extremely powerful mutant who has shown the ability to stop people in their tracks with his mind, change how events are perceived and remembered, and even connect with people on the other side of the world.

Make no mistake, Charles is the most formidable of the X-Men. Sure, he may not be the best fighter, but he doesn’t need to be. To win any battle all Charles needs to do is look at his opponent the wrong way. He’s so strong that enemies fear him (some wear special protection so he can’t probe their minds), allies cherish him, and humanity is better off because of him.

And that’s it. The most powerful superheroes that can read minds. What do you think? Who’d make your superheroes that can read minds list?
