Welcome to the recap and ending explained of Season 3 Episode 3 of Superman & Lois. This week’s episode is called “In Cold Blood,” and it follows the shocking revelations we saw last week. Lois was diagnosed with cancer, and a pretty aggressive one at that. We’ve discovered what kind of a grudge Bruno Manheim has against Superman. Lastly, Smallville seems to be involved with him somehow, at least judging by the mysterious flash drive that Onomatopoeia went to great lengths to recover.

However, this week’s episode led to an interesting turn of events. Bruno Manheim is using Clark’s blood to grant superpowers to criminals, which is terrible news. Let’s see how this week’s episode played out without further ado.

Clark is terrified that he can’t do anything to help Lois

The episode begins with Clark’s nightmare. He flies around the Metropolis and sees the city being destroyed by unknown forces. In the center of it is Lois, about to be crushed by Metropolis globe, and he doesn’t get to her in time.

Lois’ cancer diagnosis weighs heavily upon him. He is used to helping people and saving lives, and now that Lois needs him, he is powerless. He revealed to Lois’ father that there is no Kryptonian technology at the Fortress of Solitude that can help Lois fight against cancer.

LOis in danger

Meanwhile, John Henry Irons installs a top-of-the-line security system in Lana Lang’s house following Onomatopoeia’s attempt at their lives. The two will most likely connect romantically in the future due to their shared trauma and the fact that both of them are going through some personal things.

Lois and Chrissy are hard at work trying to figure out who the members of Intergang are

Due to his connections, Bruno Manheim is a difficult guy to nail down. Luckily, Chrissy and Lois find one more prisoner that was granted compassionate release, other than Henry Miller. The prisoner in question was James DiSteffano, and he was handled by a doctor that goes under name Aleister Hook. Lois reveals that she knows the doctor in question since he was previously in alleged connection with Bruno Manheim.

Aleister Hook Superman and Lois

He worked at Hob’s Bay hospital and allegedly worked with Manheim’s men, but Lois never had any solid evidence to prove it. They figure out where he works now and are set to investigate it further.

Arriving at Aleister’s current practice, Lois and Chrissy see that it’s totally abandoned, but they find some fresh drops of blood on some of the equipment and take samples of it.

Lois’ investigation causes her to miss her first chemo treatment. She claims that she forgot about it, but the cause of her showing up is likely due to other issues that she’s dealing with. Once she starts the chemo, her disease is real, and there is no turning back. A part of her doesn’t want it to be real.

Meanwhile, Natalie plans on giving Lois her mother’s watch to do something nice for her, but Johny Henry Irons sets the record straight. Lois Lane of this earth is not her mother.

Lois and Chrissy discover freeze full of blood

Lois’ chemo is rescheduled, and Clark was supposed to go with her, but due to some trouble in Nepal, he left her alone in the waiting room. Lois’ panic got the better of her, and she also used the opportunity to leave. She managed to track down Chrissy, who held the one medical center under supervision, hoping Aleister Hook would show up. Chrissy and Lois get into a fight because Lois missed one more chemo appointment, with Lois claiming that she can’t give up on Bruno Manheim now that they are so close since this is the biggest story of her career.

Freezer full of blood Superman and lois

Chrissy agrees reluctantly to investigate the abandoned building despite knowing that there are people in there with guns. Once inside, the two discover there is a bunch of weird equipment inside. After they hear the guys with guns returning, they lock themselves into a freezer and accidentally discover dozens of blood samples. Lois tries to call Clark to help them out, but the freezer has been modified, and the device doesn’t work. Superman is not getting his call.

Clark realizes that Lois is missing on time, however, and employs the help of John Henry Irons to find her.

Jonathan’s new truck got stolen

Following the party at Metropolis, where he hooked up with his ex-girlfriend, Jonathan has troubles with his current girlfriend. The matters got even worse when he insinuated that Candice’s father might be behind the theft of his new truck because he asked about the truck in a weird and uncomfortable manner. Candice accuses Jonathan of discrimination because he assumed that her father was behind the theft just because they are poor and live in the trailer park.

What’s most important in all of this is that Natalie’s watch, which runs on kinetic energy, a gift meant for Lois, was in the truck. They manage to locate where the truck is, but Jordan will have to resort to using superpowers to get it out, something that Clark explicitly asked him not to do.

Natalie Irons Suit

Natalie uses smoke bombs to infiltrate the building, and the three of them successfully retrieve the car. However, the watch Natalie wanted to give Lois is not there. Later, Candice shows up to return to them and apologizes for taking her dad’s side despite knowing how he really is.

Clark manages to find Chrissy and Lois and discovers additional “modified” people

Lois and Chrissy are taken out of the freezer and use the opportunity to call Superman. Clark shows up in record time, and after dealing with an immediate threat, he finds one more person that seemingly gained “superpowers” that are able to overwhelm him. John Henry Irons shows up to deal with the threat before the criminal blows himself up to kingdom come.

Superman attacked

After analyzing the blood samples that Chrissy and Lois recovered, Sam figures out that the blood used to enhance criminals and give them superpowers is Clark’s Kryptonian blood.
