NCIS (Franchise)
NCIS is an American military police procedural series that premiered on CBS in 2003 as a spin-off of *JAG*. It follows a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and has become one of the longest-running scripted primetime shows in U.S. television history. Created by Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill, the series is currently overseen by showrunner Steven D. Binder.
Over the years, NCIS has launched several successful spin-offs, including *NCIS: Los Angeles*, *NCIS: New Orleans*, *NCIS: Origins*, and *NCIS: Tony & Ziva*, expanding it into a major franchise. Despite early mixed reviews, the show grew into a ratings powerhouse and even became the most-watched U.S. TV series during the 2012–13 season.
As of 2026, NCIS remains in production with season 24 officially renewed, continuing its legacy as one of the longest-running scripted shows on American television.
