CBS’ New ‘NCIS: New York’ Series Expands Cast With Four Exciting Additions
CBS is expanding the NCIS universe once again with its upcoming series NCIS: New York, and the newest spinoff has added four more actors to its cast. According to Variety, Jennifer Beals, Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper, and Devin Druid have all joined the show as series regulars.
The four new cast members will appear alongside previously announced leads LL Cool J and Scott Caan. The series will bring back LL Cool J’s popular character Sam Hanna, the NCIS Special Agent he played for 14 seasons on NCIS: Los Angeles.
NCIS: New York will follow Sam Hanna as he returns to his hometown and joins the NCIS New York field office. The official description of the series says that Hanna will work with a new partner while leading a team handling dangerous cases across one of the world’s busiest cities and ports.
The show’s story will introduce a new group of agents while also connecting it to the larger NCIS franchise. Scott Caan will play a “roguish agent” who teams up with Hanna as they take on high-risk investigations.
Jennifer Beals, known for projects like The L Word and Devil in a Blue Dress, will play Assistant Special Agent in Charge Robyn Wells. Her character is described as the leader of the NCIS New York office, someone who relies on her instincts and has earned the respect of her team.
Jacqueline Byers, who has appeared in Salvation and Dark Winds, will portray NCIS Special Agent Addison “Addy” Ross. The character is described as a strong and determined agent who is skilled in the field and looking to prove herself.
Shane Harper, known for Good Luck Charlie and Power Book IV: Force, joins the cast as NCIS Special Agent Wyatt Hill. His character is described as fearless, talented, and highly capable during missions, but also someone with a softer side as a hopeless romantic.
Devin Druid, who starred in 13 Reasons Why and Olive Kitteridge, will play NCIS Tech Specialist Sean Sullivan. His character is described as smart and funny but someone who does not always follow orders easily.
How excited are you for CBS’ new NCIS: New York spinoff
The pilot for NCIS: New York was written by R. Scott Gemmill, who previously worked on NCIS: Los Angeles and served as showrunner for several seasons of that series. Gemmill is also known for his work on HBO Max’s The Pitt. Byron Balasco, who created the series Kingdom and worked on Without a Trace, will serve as showrunner for the new NCIS entry.
Gemmill and Balasco will executive produce the series alongside Adam Davidson, Kyle Harimoto, Joe Wilson, LL Cool J, and Jason Barrett. The show is produced by CBS Studios and will be distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
NCIS: New York joins a growing franchise that remains one of CBS’s biggest television brands. The original NCIS is preparing for its 24th season, while NCIS: Origins is returning for its third season. The network also continues to air NCIS: Sydney, while previous spinoffs have included NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS: Hawaiʻi, and NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
With a familiar face returning in LL Cool J and a new team of agents joining the story, NCIS: New York is shaping up to be the latest major addition to the long-running crime drama franchise.
