Season four of ‘Ted Lasso’ officially premieres on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, exclusively on Apple TV. Apple TV revealed the premiere date for the fourth season of the global hit series, confirming the show will make its global debut with a new episode arriving every Wednesday following the launch.
The season will unfold on a weekly release schedule rather than dropping all at once. There will be ten episodes in total, released weekly on Wednesdays through October 7, 2026. That means fans who prefer the old fashioned appointment viewing experience will get exactly that, with a new installment landing every week until the finale closes things out that October.
New Cast Members Joining the Lady Greyhounds
The biggest shift for season four is the story itself. Season four follows Ted Lasso as he returns to AFC Richmond to coach the club’s newly formed second division women’s team, the Lady Greyhounds, who have limited resources and a tiny training ground while also facing skepticism from Richmond fans who worry the team will drain funds from the men’s side.
To tell that story, several new actors are joining the ensemble. The new cast includes Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely. Details on most of their characters are still under wraps, though several are expected to be tied directly into the new women’s football storyline.
One particularly notable change involves a familiar character rather than a brand new one. There is a shake up in the casting, with Grant Feely taking over as Ted’s son Henry, a role previously played by Gus Turner. Given that Ted is spending at least part of the season in Kansas and leaning more into his role as a father as well as a coach, Henry and possibly his ex wife Michelle may end up with more prominent roles this time around.
Returning Cast Members Fans Already Know and Love
The good news for longtime viewers is that most of the show’s core group is coming back. The returning main cast includes Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, and Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins.
Apple made a point of highlighting just how decorated this returning group is. Season four welcomes back Emmy Award winner Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Emmy Award winner Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift, alongside star and executive producer Jason Sudeikis, himself an Emmy winner for the role. That kind of continuity should reassure fans who were nervous the show might lose its identity after such a long gap between seasons.
Not everyone is confirmed to be back just yet, however. Notably absent from the announced roster, at least for now, are Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt and Nick Mohammed as Nate Shelley. Their absence has already sparked plenty of chatter among fans wondering whether the AFC Richmond men’s side will factor into the new season at all, or whether the focus really is shifting almost entirely to the Lady Greyhounds.
Why It Took So Long For ‘Ted Lasso’ to Return
Part of what makes this announcement so satisfying is how uncertain season four once seemed. Brett Goldstein said in an interview that season three of ‘Ted Lasso’ was originally written as the end of the series, noting that it had been planned as three seasons from the start. That framing made the show’s ending in 2023 feel final for a long stretch.
Everything changed the following year. Deadline reported that Hannah Waddingham, Goldstein and Jeremy Swift were returning for a fourth season, with Apple TV having to work out new agreements with cast members whose SAG-AFTRA contracts had expired. From there, production quietly moved forward. ‘Ted Lasso’ officially started production on season four in July 2025 ahead of its 2026 premiere.
Cast members have also floated ideas of where the world of the show could go beyond this new season. Nick Mohammed said the writers had originally mapped out three season arcs but that doesn’t mean the story definitely has to end there, adding that he hopes there is more even though he doesn’t know for certain. Whether or not a spinoff ever materializes, it is clear the door has been left open for ‘Ted Lasso’ to keep growing.
