‘The Boys’’ Canceled Spinoff Gets Unexpected Update From Kripke Himself
The future of The Boys universe is still moving forward even after the main series finale and the end of Gen V after two seasons. While it may look like the story is wrapping up, creator Eric Kripke says there is still more to explore, especially when it comes to the younger characters introduced in Gen V.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Kripke shared that he still believes there is unfinished business with those characters. He said, “The Gen V kids… I’d love to continue that story. I think we have left money on the table. There’s more there in terms of how those characters can evolve into fully realized heroes.” His comments suggest that even though the show is not currently continuing, the creative team is still interested in where those characters could go next.
Kripke also explained that the cancellation of Gen V was not his decision. He pointed to viewership numbers as the main reason the show ended. He said, “Ultimately, there were just not enough viewers to justify the expense in Amazon’s eyes. It just came down to that. I tried. I really tried hard. I am bummed, for sure.” His words show clear disappointment, especially since he had plans for further development of the story.

Even with that setback, Kripke says he is still working with writers from The Boys and other spin-off projects like Vought Rising. He explained that future ideas will only move forward if they feel different from The Boys and come from a place of real passion. As he put it, “We will only do them if one, they are totally different from The Boys. Two, if somebody is really passionate about it and it’s not just a piece of commerce, if it’s idiosyncratic and weirdly shaped and something somebody loves. I know that makes a difference.”
When it comes to characters from The Boys, Kripke believes their main stories are already complete. He said there is always a chance for small appearances or cameos, but their full journeys are mostly finished. This makes future crossovers uncertain, although projects like a possible Mexican spin-off or Vought Rising could still open the door for brief appearances.
Even with cancellations and endings, the world of The Boys is not completely closed. According to Kripke, there is still room for new stories, as long as they feel fresh and different from what has already been done.
