Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans finally got a major surprise during Summer Game Fest, as Paramount Games Studio officially revealed its first big project since the merger between Paramount and Skydance. The new game is called “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin,” and it aims to bring one of the franchise’s darkest stories to a much larger audience.

According to information shared during the event, the game is being developed by PlatinumGames and published by Paramount Games Studio. It is described as a AAA action-adventure title based on the popular comic book series of the same name.

Unlike many previous TMNT stories, “The Last Ronin” focuses on a future where only one Ninja Turtle remains alive. The surviving turtle sets out on a dangerous mission driven by loss, revenge, and the desire to honor his fallen brothers. The comic series became a huge hit because of its darker tone and emotional storytelling, making it one of the most talked-about TMNT projects in recent years.

The first trailer debuted during Summer Game Fest at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. While the footage did not reveal many gameplay details, it gave fans a glimpse of the game’s serious atmosphere and hinted at the emotional journey waiting ahead. The trailer focused on the lonely and determined hero at the center of the story, setting a much different tone than the more lighthearted TMNT adaptations audiences are used to seeing.

For now, Paramount has not announced a release date. However, the company confirmed that the game will launch on both consoles and PC whenever it is ready for release.

The announcement marks a major step for Paramount Games Studio, which appears to be investing heavily in one of its most recognizable franchises. Bringing in PlatinumGames as the developer has also raised expectations among gamers. The studio is known for fast-paced action titles and stylish combat systems, leading many fans to believe “The Last Ronin” could deliver an intense and high-quality gameplay experience.

The reveal was not the only TMNT news shared during the event. Paramount also announced a limited-edition merchandise collection created by artist BossLogic. The collection includes clothing and collectible poster artwork inspired by “The Last Ronin.”

Meanwhile, the story itself will continue expanding through comics before the game arrives. Paramount revealed that a new comic called “The Last Ronin: Training Day” will be released on July 9.

Written by TMNT creators Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, the one-shot comic serves as a prequel story set between issues three and four of the original “The Last Ronin” series. The comic focuses on Michelangelo during a critical 24-hour period as he trains Casey Marie Jones, the daughter of April O’Neil and Casey Jones.

Artwork for the comic is being handled by the Escorza Brothers and Ben Bishop.

With a major game, new merchandise, and another comic story on the way, it is clear that Paramount has big plans for “The Last Ronin.” While fans may have to wait for more gameplay details and an official release date, the project has already become one of the most anticipated TMNT adaptations in years.
