The Length of ‘My Hero Academia’ Final Season Sparks Concerns Among Fans
The final season of My Hero Academia is set to be much shorter than fans expected, raising concerns about how the story will wrap up.
According to the official website, the last season will be released in Japan across two home media volumes.
This confirms that it will be a single cour, likely consisting of 11 or 12 episodes. Unlike previous seasons that spanned multiple cours over several months, the grand finale will have a more condensed run.
However, the exact number of episodes has not been officially confirmed with the home media releases.
The eighth season, also known as My Hero Academia: Final Season, is produced by Bones and directed by Kenji Nagasaki as chief director alongside Naomi Nakayama. It adapts the final volumes of Kōhei Horikoshi’s manga, covering chapters 399 to 431.
Horikoshi himself has been deeply involved in the production, creating new original scenes that were not included in the manga. The season premiered on October 4.

The storyline picks up after season seven, focusing on the last battles between heroes and villains. Key conflicts involve Izuku Midoriya against Tomura Shigaraki, and All Might facing All For One. The season promises high-stakes action as characters fight to shape the future of hero society.
Streaming rights have been licensed internationally. Crunchyroll will handle the season outside of Asia, while Medialink will cover the Asia-Pacific region.
Fans can also look forward to the new opening and ending theme songs: The Revo by Porno Graffitti and I by Bump of Chicken, respectively.
While the shorter length may disappoint some fans hoping for a longer conclusion, the series still promises to deliver the dramatic battles and emotional moments that have defined My Hero Academia.
