‘The Penguin’: First Teaser Trailer for the Batman Spin-off Series Revealed
It’s been more than a year since Matt Reeves’s DC movie The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, was released. The movie received positive responses from critics and audiences, with particular praise for the atmosphere and the focus on the detective abilities of the World’s Greatest Detective.
Matt Reeves is currently developing a sequel, The Batman – Part II, which is set to be released in October 2025. But before that, the fans will get the next chapter of this epic crime saga with a spin-off series focused on The Penguin, with Colin Farrell reprising the role of the known Batman villain. The series is currently in production, but we’ve already got a first look at the series with the “in production” teaser, which you can check down below:
Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot, also known as the Penguin, is one of the most known villains in the Batman rogue gallery. The character was first introduced in Detective Comics in December of 1941. The Penguin is known as the vicious crime lord who rules the underground world of Gotham City.
Some of the audience still remembers Danny DeVito’s Penguin in the 1992’s movie Batman Returns starring Michael Keaton in the titular role. DeVito’s performance was widely praised, and the character appeared in several other media adaptations. Paul Williams voiced the character in the legendary Batman: The Animated Series, and the video-game incarnation of the character in the Batman: Arkham franchise was also widely praised.
Colin Farrell debuted as the Penguin in The Batman in 2022. Although he was almost unrecognizable, Farell’s performance received praise. The fans were surprised when the news surfaced that Farrell would reprise the role in his own spin-off series, which will most likely follow Penguin’s path from Falcone’s chief lieutenant to the crime kingpin.
Warner Bros. Discovery recently announced plans to replace the HBOMax streaming service with a new streaming service called MAX, offering content from both HBOMax and Discovery+. MAX will replace HBOMax on May 23, 2023.
