Victoria Javadi is heading in a new direction when The Pitt returns for its third season. While fans may have to wait until 2027 to see the next chapter of the hit medical drama, new details suggest that one of the show’s most popular young characters will be stepping away from the emergency room.

The update comes from actress Shabana Azeez, who plays Victoria Javadi on the HBO Max series. In an interview with Bustle, Azeez revealed that her character’s training will take her into a completely different department during Season 3.

“I can say that I’m not in the ER this season. I’ve done my ER rotation, so I’m doing my psychiatry rotation,” Azeez told the publication.

The actress also shared her thoughts about the upcoming storyline and how different it feels from what viewers have seen so far.

“It’s a very different vibe for me,” she said. “And I’m scared and nervous. But it’s an honor to be able to show that part of medicine.”

The change is not surprising for viewers who followed Javadi’s journey during the first two seasons. When she was introduced in Season 1, she was a talented but nervous medical student trying to prove herself in a busy emergency department. Despite her intelligence, she often struggled with self-confidence and the pressure that came with her family background.

Victoria is not just any medical student. Her mother, Dr. Eileen Shamsi, is a respected surgeon and professor at the same hospital. During Season 2, viewers also learned that her father, Raymond Javadi, works there as a professor of internal medicine. Having both parents working at the hospital placed extra expectations on her from the very beginning.

Over time, however, Javadi grew into one of the most capable young doctors in training. She became more confident, trusted her instincts, and handled difficult situations with increasing maturity. Her growth was especially noticeable during Season 2, where she took on bigger responsibilities and even assisted with a complex neurosurgery case.

One of the biggest clues about her future came near the end of Season 2. Throughout the season, Javadi became more interested in mental health and the challenges faced by both patients and healthcare workers. In one conversation, she admitted that her experiences in the emergency department had made her think seriously about the importance of psychological care.

“The more time I spend here, the more I realize the importance of mental health — for patients and for us,” she said earlier in the season.

Later, she approached Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, played by Noah Wyle, to ask whether emergency psychiatry might be a good fit for her. Robby encouraged her and reassured her that she was capable of succeeding in any field she chose.

The timeline of the series also supports this move. According to information from the show, Season 3 will take place only a few months after the events of Season 2. That means Javadi will still be a medical student, but she will now be learning in a different environment.

Although she won’t be working in the emergency room, fans should not worry about seeing less of her. Based on Azeez’s comments to Bustle, psychiatry is expected to be a major part of her story moving forward. The new rotation could also give viewers a fresh look at another important area of medicine while continuing Javadi’s personal and professional growth.

For now, all eyes are on Season 3 and how this next step will shape one of The Pitt’s most promising characters.
