When Marvel announced that Jon Bernthal’s Punisher would be joining Tom Holland on the big screen, it felt like a wish that fans had quietly been making for years suddenly coming true. Frank Castle has been a slow-burn phenomenon in the MCU, first terrifying audiences as a secondary threat on Netflix, then evolving into one of the most beloved anti-heroes in recent Marvel memory.

Bringing that energy into a flagship Spider-Man film was always going to be a gamble, and a new teaser making the rounds online has made it very clear: that gamble is paying off in spectacular fashion.

The clip offers a charged glimpse of what the Punisher looks like in the world of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’.

The footage is brief, punchy, and deliberately cryptic, but for fans who have been following the film’s promotional build, it confirms something that the earlier trailers have been building toward with real momentum.

The second full trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ packed in more team-up footage between Bernthal’s Punisher and Holland’s web-slinger, more battles with The Hand, more of Spider-Man’s mysterious evolving powers, and more teases of an unseen villain who appears to be the root cause of the film’s escalating chaos.

The significance of seeing Bernthal’s Punisher in a Marvel film cannot be overstated for longtime fans of the character. Bernthal first suited up as Frank Castle in Netflix’s 2016 ‘Daredevil’, before leading his own spin-off series for two seasons and later returning in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ on Disney+.

Every one of those appearances existed in the TV-MA corner of the MCU, which made the prospect of transplanting the character into a PG-13 blockbuster a source of real anxiety among fans.

Bernthal tackled that concern head-on in an interview with Screen Rant, saying: “Around that same time, there will also be this Punisher special that’s coming out that I think will be as sort of high-octane kind of Punisher as you’ve ever seen. And I think what was really important to me and to Destin and to Tom is that we believed that the Punisher that could walk off of the Spider-Man set could walk on to the special set. I do believe that we achieved that.”

The chemistry between Holland and Bernthal also carries the weight of a genuine real-world friendship. Tom Holland, speaking to Collider, said: “I think one of my favourite aspects of this new film is the relationship between The Punisher and Spider-Man. It’s no secret that I absolutely love Jon Bernthal, and sharing the screen with him and building this new onscreen relationship was so fun.”

The two actually share a history that predates their Marvel roles entirely, having worked together on the 2017 medieval film ‘Pilgrimage’, where Bernthal has said they also helped each other with audition tapes for their respective Marvel roles.
