Avengers: Doomsday‘ has spent the better part of this year dropping tiny, tantalizing clues about what Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom is actually planning, even as Marvel Studios has managed to keep the film’s biggest secrets locked down. With the movie’s December release edging closer, fans have gotten used to combing through every trailer, panel, and piece of merchandise for hidden meaning.

Merchandise, in particular, has become an unlikely goldmine for these clues, since early collectibles sometimes reveal costume or prop details before the studio is ready to confirm them officially. That’s exactly the situation unfolding now with a new Doctor Doom statue that’s sending fans straight back into the comics.

An ultra-detailed statue of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’s’ Doctor Doom shows him holding a mysterious device that fans speculate could be the Ultimate Nullifier or the Zodiac Key. The 1:10 scale Art Scale statue from Iron Studios depicts Downey’s Doom seated on an elaborately detailed throne covered in mystical symbols fans have already nicknamed “Doom runes,” and includes three interchangeable arm options: one gripping the mystery device, one holding an open hand, and a third clutching a glowing green tome that’s sparked its own round of theories.

The leading theory points to the Ultimate Nullifier, one of Marvel Comics’ most destructive weapons. Originally housed within Galactus’ Worldship, the device is capable of erasing a target from existence entirely, with its effects scaling based on the user’s willpower, and has previously factored into major storylines involving the Fantastic Four and Galactus himself.

A competing theory ties the object to Jonathan Hickman’s “Secret Wars” comics run, specifically the Library of Worlds, a multiversal hub containing infinite knowledge across timelines that Doom accesses in the source material ahead of the original Secret Wars storyline. That theory picked up extra traction after the raw image file for the statue’s accessory was reportedly labeled “white-1-key,” a detail fans have seized on as a possible confirmation.

A third, comparatively simpler theory suggests the device could be a modified TVA TemPad, allowing Doom to move freely across timelines while bypassing the Time Variance Authority’s usual restrictions, giving him a more grounded multiversal tool rather than a cosmic-scale weapon.

Skeptics have pushed back on the Ultimate Nullifier theory specifically, noting the prop doesn’t visually resemble the weapon’s classic comic book design. Since the device has changed appearance across different eras of Marvel Comics, though, that inconsistency alone doesn’t rule the theory out, and the MCU has taken creative liberties with iconic props before.

Iron Studios has not officially confirmed what the object represents, describing it in official materials only as an interchangeable accessory. The company has additional statues planned featuring Nightcrawler, Beast, Cyclops, and Thor, giving fans even more costume and prop details to dissect before ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives in theaters December 18.

Whatever Doom is holding, its placement directly in his hand on an official collectible suggests it isn’t just background dressing. With the film’s release still months away and Marvel keeping its cards close, this statue has become the latest piece of a puzzle that fans are determined to solve well before the movie ever hits theaters.
