This Taylor Sheridan Series With a 93% Audience Score Is Finally Heading to Netflix

Streaming platforms have been constantly reshuffling content, and it’s becoming more common to see popular shows move from one service to another. For viewers, this usually means a second chance to catch something they might have missed the first time around. It also shows how competitive the streaming space has become, with companies looking to reach wider audiences.

At the same time, partnerships between major studios are starting to shape what people watch next. Big companies are no longer keeping everything exclusive to their own platforms. Instead, they are sharing major titles across services to boost visibility and keep subscribers engaged.

One of the latest examples comes from Netflix and Paramount Global. According to official announcements, the Western drama Lawmen: Bass Reeves is set to arrive on Netflix starting June 1 in the United States, the United Kingdom, and several international regions. The show first premiered on Paramount+ in late 2023.

The series was created by Chad Feehan and executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, who is widely known for building the Yellowstone universe. It tells the real-life story of Bass Reeves, a former enslaved man who went on to become one of the first Black Deputy U.S. Marshals west of the Mississippi River. Over the course of his career, he reportedly arrested more than 3,000 outlaws and became a legendary figure of the American frontier.

The lead role is played by David Oyelowo, whose performance has been one of the most talked-about parts of the series. He is joined by a large cast that includes Lauren E. Banks, Demi Singleton, Barry Pepper, Dennis Quaid, Donald Sutherland, Shea Whigham, and Garrett Hedlund. The show also features several familiar faces in recurring roles, adding even more depth to the story.

This move is part of a bigger strategy. Reports from Netflix, including statements made during an earnings call, confirm that the platform has secured a deal to bring more titles from Paramount to its library. That list includes shows like Mayor of Kingstown, SEAL Team, and Watson.

This kind of collaboration has already proven to work. Other Paramount titles have seen a boost in popularity after landing on Netflix. Shows like Halo and School Spirits gained a much larger audience after becoming available to Netflix subscribers. Even films like Love in Taipei found new viewers after making the jump.

With its wider release coming soon, Lawmen: Bass Reeves is expected to perform well once it reaches Netflix. The mix of a real-life story, a strong cast, and the involvement of Taylor Sheridan gives it a solid chance of landing high on the platform’s charts when it becomes available to a global audience.
