Tom Holland Just Revealed His All-Time Favorite Video Game, And It’s Not What You’d Expect

Tom Holland has spent the better part of the last decade balancing his own on-screen legacy with the games that shaped his generation, from swinging through New York as Spider-Man to literally stepping into Nathan Drake’s boots for ‘Uncharted.’ For an actor whose career is so tied to gaming culture, fans have always been curious about what he actually plays when the cameras stop rolling.

It’s a sentiment plenty of longtime fans of the franchise will understand. ‘The Last of Us Part II’ remains one of gaming’s most divisive modern releases, praised for its ambition and emotional weight while also sparking years of ongoing debate among players over its narrative choices.

The HBO adaptation hasn’t been immune to that same discourse either. Season two of the series, which began adapting the events of ‘Part II,’ has drawn its own share of mixed reactions from critics and fans navigating how the show translates the game’s more controversial storytelling beats to the screen.

Holland’s gaming interests haven’t stayed confined to Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic world, either. He’s also spoken about his appreciation for Insomniac’s ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’ games, revealing that specific finishing moves from those titles ended up influencing choices made for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day.’

That crossover between his gaming habits and his on-screen work isn’t entirely new territory for Holland. He previously played Nathan Drake in the big-screen ‘Uncharted’ adaptation, based on another beloved PlayStation franchise, and has even expressed interest in eventually bringing a ‘Jak and Daxter’ movie to life.

For an actor who insists he isn’t much of a gamer, Holland’s taste keeps landing on some of the medium’s most acclaimed and hotly debated titles. Whether that’s coincidence or a genuine passion hiding behind his modest self-assessment, it’s clear ‘The Last of Us Part II’ has left enough of a mark that even Hollywood’s own Spider-Man isn’t ready to risk it on a TV adaptation just yet.
